Proof of active military status

What documents are needed to proof active military status (for affidavid of support).

My husband says he doesn't have a contract or anything (officers don't have that) so I'm wondering what people normally send in for that.

Just a copy of the military ID?

Doesn't everyone in the military have "current orders" which state their currently assigned post and the dates they are assigned to be there?

My father (career Army) always had them.

What branch of service is he in? He can just have his commanding officer do up a letter. I send my proof of service letter off our virtual military personnel flight site. I dont know if officers get like that. Including the last 6 LES's help too, but they are looking for either orders or that letter I believe.

an order or a letter from his CO is what he needed

1. current military orders and

2. last 6 LES (Leave and Earnings Statements)

Ah! Good idea. He has brand new orders actually.

But do they have to be certified copies??

And I'll let him know that the last 6 LES is what we need aswell.

Is a letter from the XO sufficient.. the guy who handles everything when the CO is out?...

Also is that all that is needed for I-134 for military personnel? Do we still need W2s and Bank statements? or just 6 months of LES and CO letter/current orders?
