I just wanted to echo some of the things I saw in this thread:

Buster's case is somewhat different than discussed here because as was pointed out just above, there was more than one item on the RFE, but it was very confusingly worded. So much so, that they have successfully argued for their case to be reopened WITHOUT paying any reconsideration fee. I just don't think it applies.

Several VJ members have had success in getting their medical located by their senator/congressperson (us too) I believe the success rate depends quite heavily on how good the immigration staffer at the rep's office is, so shop around a bit.

N1dom's quotes from their immigration officer are very similar to what was posted in another thread that they have tried to "speed things up" by getting people who aren't familiar with our (quite rare, actually!) visas to open envelopes, and they obviously haven't been trained to match up the AOS file with the "A" file returned at POE before shooting off an RFE. Many are therefore simply issued in error. It makes it more difficult for us, and certainly muddies the waters in case sometimes they are actually lost, but I think for the majority, it's the former situation. I'll quiz our interviewer today as well.
