Religious scholars say Glenn Beck is ignorant

I don't see why the religious right shouldn't be cut loose from their obligations towards social justice. Whole swathes of the New Testament could be updated to reflect these new values and why not? All one needs is the necessary divine inspiration derived from spiritual revelation, what's so hard? I might apply ;)

Where are the words, "Social Justice", anywhere in the Bible? I do remember something about not coveting your neighbor's goods.

Start with Matthew's Gospel all the way through John's.

You are joking right? Or do you mean the words as in literally..

Oh for goodness sake, social justice is just a word used to cover notions of treating people with respect derived from an idea of mutual support within society. Christ's activities in the new testament are all examples of living life for the benefit of others who are worse off than you are yourself, providing succor and love to the lowest of the low. He did not seek power, riches or fame, he sought those afflicted by illness, poverty and disease and immorality and demanded his followers cherish and nurtured these people.

Whatever one thinks of the new testament, what it is not is an example for people to lead isolated and self serving lives.

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

There was a scholar of the law who stood up to test him and said, "Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"

Jesus said to him, "What is written in the law? How do you read it?"

He said in reply, "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your being, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself."

He replied to him, "You have answered correctly; do this and you will live."

But because he wished to justify himself, he said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"

Jesus replied, "A man fell victim to robbers as he went down from Jerusalem to Jericho. They stripped and beat him and went off leaving him half-dead.

A priest happened to be going down that road, but when he saw him, he passed by on the opposite side.

Likewise a Levite came to the place, and when he saw him, he passed by on the opposite side.

But a Samaritan traveler who came upon him was moved with compassion at the sight.

He approached the victim, poured oil and wine over his wounds and bandaged them. Then he lifted him up on his own animal, took him to an inn and cared for him.

The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper with the instruction, 'Take care of him. If you spend more than what I have given you, I shall repay you on my way back.'

Which of these three, in your opinion, was neighbor to the robbers' victim?"

He answered, "The one who treated him with mercy." Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."

Luke 10:25-37

No, because Lenin was after power, not social justice, consequently the opium of the people was banned.

There is a difference between the compassion of the individual, and the term "social justice".

America’s hopelessly antiquated founding principles of individual freedom, personal responsibility, private property, and the self-directed pursuit of happiness all need to be undermined and replaced with collectivism, socialism and cultural relativism (i.e., Western Civilization is evil and to be blamed for all the world’s problems).

That's not from the Bible, that is from a different work.

These startup religions that literally come out of the wood works (of NY) will next tell us that Jesus was a profit seeking, slave driving, executive, of the time.

Did Jesus not technically provide free health care, feed the hungry, forgive the sins of others, ask people to forgive rather than hate...

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

“What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul.”

“It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven (Luke 18:25)”

“Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.”

“Let one who has become wealthy reign, and let one who has power renounce”

However this is out of the King James, rather than some upstate NY tablets..

“Take, and it shall be yours. For whatever measure you must redistribute wealth.”

(Lenin 6:18)”

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."
