Hello.

I need help!!

My husband is in the Military and he is going to Iraq this June.

He wont be back until February.

While he is gone, I want to go back to Japan.

I recieved my GC February 2009, it is only good for 2 years.

So I have to file I-751 before it will expire.

I think I can start filing it around November, but around that time I will be in Japan.

I wont be back to the US probably until May or so....

By the time, my GC will expire....

Can I enter the US with the expired GC or I cant??

Here is anoter concern...

I am not going to stay in japan for more than a year, so I dont think I need a re-entry permit... right?

Anyway,

What am I supposed to do??

Is there any way that I can file I-751 early??

No possibility of filing for I-751 early.

What you can do is - when you file enclose your husband's deployment orders and write in caps letter on the cover letter HUSBAND DEPLOYED - EXPEDITE PROCESSING and that may get you done faster. You should probably inquire with the US embassy in Japan whether you can do biometrics - fingerprinting there when it's time to send in the I-751. Also make sure they send everything to your Japan address and definitely have your husband's congressman involved so they can follow up on the case and assist having it expedited.

DON'T forget to have your husband sign the I-751 before he leaves for deployment.

Not sure when you are leaving for Japan but you need to have documents showing why you were out of the country for a long time. Normally husband's deployment orders should be enough.

You can't come to the country with an expired green card. If you file on time you should receive notice of action that extends your status for another year while I-751 is processing.

Are you sending it to CSC or VSC?
