On this, we disagree. I suppose this is the disagreement that explains everything else.

You can disattach yourself from a private company. But once the big bad government owns you, that bondage is forever.

Yes, this does seem to be the entire caveat of the argument as it pertains to healthcare... Essential or only valuable... My view is that it is essential to make a nation advanced... healthy people...

No, but 1.0 is the same as 1. 1.00 is also the same as 1. 1.000 is also the same as 1. Oh and in case you don't get the point, 1.0000000000000 is also the same as 1.

mr report button ...

chose.

1.1 is the same as 1.0 if you are rounding .... 1.6 is not the same as 1. if you are rounding.

If healthcare isn't essential, then none of them are.

Not really.

You and I can benefit in property value by our houses not burning down and the cops taking care of crime.

You and I can benefit from properly educated people running the businesses in the community, running our government, etc..

You and I benefit and prosper from our military protecting our borders and keeping us safe overall to live our lives

You and I don't really benefit though from the other living or dieing...... So health care is valuable to the individual to keep one alive, but to the mass, it really has no real benefit.

But when you are left broke from the private company, you end up being taken care of by the govt anyway and now you are both owned AND broke...

I've yet to see a convincing argument for completely deregulating the healthcare system - healthcare, like education, the military or the emergency services is an essential service.

It's mindboggling that half the country fails to grasp this.

In many ways I don't understand how it is not in the best interest of a country to not provide basic medical care for its' citizens. From a national standpoint I would think that having a healthy society is a productive society and to promote that can only advance the goals of the nation?

I am fan of 'prevention'. I learned 'prevention' when I was 12.

Unfortunately, prevention doesn't get covered in USA insurance plans.

SOME of prevention, though, is covered in US Tax Code, specifically for itemized deductions on the 1040 long form.

But it's not at 100 percent, alas.

I figure, if I'm healthy most of the time, and can maintain my lifestyle and income, I really don't give a #### about the problems in USA regarding insurance coverage.

I had a huge scare last year, my teenager getting diagnosed with cancer, so I paid attention to his mother's insurance program, you betcha (I paid all of the offsets and deductibles). But I digress.

Is great disparity between 'quality of care' and 'price' , regardless of where you live. I overcome this, by going to China to get my major work done, and buying large quanities of meds in Mexico. I don't think MOST of the VJ members here will mimic my habits.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

That's a problem. The government shouldn't be taking care of you when that happens. They should let people die. Death is part of God's plan, why do we try so hard to avoid it? It makes no sense. We have immune systems, which are gifts from God, and if that does not cure us surely we do not deserve to live? Surely it is God's will that we die?

Man is made by his belief. As he believes, so he is.

So you believe society would not be harmed if we had the health system of the 18th century?

Never mind that all the education in the world, wouldn't save you from cancer or heart disease back then.

Where have you been shopping for insurance? Every insurance policy I have ever had, has covered preventative services...... Granted it's only been a couple and in 2 different states, but still...
