So how do you explain me being able to purchase the same medication from AUS, having it shipped here, yet it still costing $115 less than buying it here. Forget to mention, it also comes in double the dosage 60ml rather than 30ml and is a brand name pharmaceutical. Not one of those cheap and nasty generics.

You assumptions hold not water. Otherwise, for you to be correct, the rest of the developed world would have to be wrong.

Blame the Pharmaceutical companies.... and congress for not allowing us to import drugs from Canada.

I explain it by 'the truth'. It's cheaper in Australia, if yer one of 'those' enrolled in the AUS healthcare system.

Obama said, no longer will Grandma get to have a pacemaker, we'll just give her a pill. Doesn't matter what the old hag wants....

That is disingenuous and rubbish. What makes it worse is that it's actually the opposite that is occurring in America, where your beloved private insurance companies are denying people daily. First time I ever heard of the a denial or pre-approval was once I moved here. Never ever heard of pre-existing either.

So basically you mean blame the private sector which is screwing us stupid. One guess why this doesn't occur in Canada, Europe Australia etc - because the freagin government won't let them.

The doctors and the nurses and the hospitals, as well as all the old and poor people that want Cadillac healthcare at taxpayer expense. One thing single payer healthcare will do is cut costs by necessity. Everybody will have to grow up and do with less.

Health insurance costs have gone up about 6% per year. I know my nurse friends are happy to see a 3% raise and right now most of the major hospitals are on a hiring freeze. So the reason my own health insurance premium is getting so high is still beyond me.

Governments aren't supposed to do anything. We're supposed to elect these people into office to represent us and then they're supposed to sit in their offices and do nothing. If they do something then they're nothing better than a pansyass Frenchman. Might as well stuff croissants down their throats and gift them berets.

someone has to ... you can't ...

I am so glad we have you to do things I can't do. Like count and spell and fart.

Oh I feel the "peril" Natty

The peril of arguing with a gun nut on a message board, in a country where the evening news is filled with the wacky escapades of wacky people who drive thousands of miles in adult diapers to set fire to someone's house over a difference of opinion.

 That is gold for six to say this..

Yup - I know of what you spik.

I get MOST of my scrips in Mexico, then the strange stuff in Singapore, via OTC there.

Anything requiring a 'day of doctors' - I'm in China, getting it done.

In Italy, as far a medication, they have pretty much the same stuff as here... I also buy some of my moms medication over there because it is MUCH less... Like one of her Rx would be $240 a month here, OTC for the exact same thing is $50 a month. I had one procedure over in Italy (kidney stone) and I was very satisfied with the service... We paid a little out of pocket (about $200) since we had a short window of time and wanted to get in same-day, but they did everything right then and there and were really great...

I figure that the plane ticket is about $900 usually, so if I get 3 months of my medicine over there, I have paid for the trip... But it really irks me that this is what it has come to here... That I have to go to Europe to get better coverage... it just does not seem right to me...

In many ways I don't understand how it is not in the best interest of a country to not provide basic medical care for its' citizens. From a national standpoint I would think that having a healthy society is a productive society and to promote that can only advance the goals of the nation? But I suppose I will be labeled a communist for such thoughts, but I am purly thinking in a pragmatic manner. It has nothing about what is fair and pay fair share, but I always interpreted the "life, liberty and pursuit of happiness" to mean that the "life" part has to do directly with care of the health of the people.
