Invidual Voumtary Agreement (IVA) in the UK

Hi all,

Unfortunately it looks as though I may have to go through an IVA for my debts in the United Kingdom. Basically this means a company talking with all my creditors and agreeing to write some of it off in return for a fixed payment for five years to clear the debt. I won't be able to apply for any credit during that time, but that's ok - I'm in enough trouble as it is!

The guy I spoke to was unsure as to whether an IVA would affect my AOS application here in the United States. Does anyone here have any experience or advice. I will contact USCIS but I know how slow and difficult that can be

Your credit history and any debts you leave behind in the UK stay there.... it will have no effect on your AOS...

It wont even effect your credit here in the USA as they can not access your credit history in another country....

Even if it's something as serious as an IVA. It's not so much a debt, more of a "you got into so much trouble we're having to come to a legally-binding financial agreement to get you out of it" type thing!
