Looking for the best path

I have been killing myself day in and day out trying to find the best solution to bringing my finance over to the states.

I am a US Citizen and my finace is currently residing in Guatemala. Could somebody perhaps guide me with the easiest and quickest path.

From what i have read the K-1 seems to be the easiest, but certain aspects that my fiance wants will not allow this to happen(religious wedding prior to leaving the country).

So I figured that the best option would be the following: She will be visiting soon and we plan on having a civil wedding here in the states, once this is done and her vacation here in the states is over she will head back to Guatemala and prepare for the following steps. Once I have the certificate in hand i will follow the following guideline: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k3guide this process seems fine and I have all the information I need except for #11: Evidence of a bonafide marriage (see note below for what to include) its really hard to provide something like this since we are recently married, i guess we could give several affidavits, but i dont know if these will get accepted.

I think all in all the K-1 will be the best route.

suggestions?

thanks in advanced.

If the fiance visas issue of ONLY getting married in the US after obtaining the visa is an issue then your suggestion about getting married and then applying for a spouse visa is a good one. EXCEPT, K3 isn't around anymore so: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...page=i130guide1 is the guide you would be using.

The bonafide marriage stuff you could start to accumulate after the marriage... such as writing a Will with you as beneficiary, changing her name over (if that what she wants), photos from the wedding, proof of any money you've sent her, proof of calls/emails etc from a long relationship. The evidence would be similar to that of fiancee visa. If she has a SSN it'd be good to add her to bank accounts, health insurance, file tax jointly stuff like that.

Good luck :)

It's the certificate from the civil wedding that you'll use for the immigration process, so no need to wait until after the religious wedding to file. Married is married.

K3 is obsolete. Follow the CR1 guide.

I-130 is just as quick as K-1 nowadays but is much better. Once she gets here in the US there's no more USCIS paperwork until her 2 year GC expires.

Good luck!
