Hello,

I have been searching... but could anyone please tell me how far in advance your passport needs to be valid in order to have your K1 issued? I mean, I know long enough to get you to the US, but maybe there is some extended period it must have left...

Also, in Canada, does it cost/how much does it cost to have your passport extended? Renewed? Sorry, I have never had one, I don't know the proper terms here.

Finally, my fiance I think needs five 2x2 photos in time for the medical/interview, correct? I can't find where I read that >.< so I am just going to ask before he heads off to get them taken.

Thank you for any assistance. I have been searching and searching. Giving up coffee was not wise to do before this process was over. It has caused me too many of these posts I think.

I thought of one more question. >< I read somewhere that he will need a prepaid envelope of some sort to take to the interview? I've again been searching and just having no luck this morning. Could someone please let me know which/what size/etc so I can pass this to my fiance? Thank you!

There has to be at least 6 months validity left on the passport for the visa to be issued.

It's 3 photos for the medical, 2 for the interview.

The envelope you are looking for is the 12x15 XPresspost mailer. It's the largest one available on Canada Post's website.

Montreal: BEAT!!! Approved!!!!!

You can't "extend" passports in Canada. You have to get a whole new one. Every 5 years. I thought you were interviewing in Vancouver? Vancouver issues visas the day after the interview, unless it's a Friday so you won't need an envelope unless he can't be there.

He is interviewing in Vancouver, however he wont be able to stay an extra day, he will be going home right after the interview.

Thanks for the passport info, I had no clue. Glad I asked. :) May I ask, about how much does a new passport cost? I have a feeling his is going to be close in time, may need a new one. >.< Can you get them at the post office like you can in the US? Or is there a special office?
