Hello All,

My Dad is a US citizen who filed a petition I-130 for me ,his daughter in 2008. I was not married when he filed an application,

but now I got married, what should I do now when my status has changed from unmarried single to married daughter

over 21?

1.Should I inform the USCIS about my changed status now?

2. Or should I wait until my case is up to the processing time years later?

3. What kind of forms or documents do I have to prepare?where should I sent them to?

4. Will my changed status slow my processing time?

any suggestions will be very helpful, really appreciate any response, thanks in advance!

:help:

I'm not real familiar with this process but from looking at the DOS visa site your father should contact them and inform them you are now married. It will change your category from F-1 to F-3 which right now is looking like about a nine year wait.

When your number becomes current then the contact will begin and that is when the documents will need to be sent in. So not a lot to do between now and then but wait.

Agreed

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

prior to marriage - you had a 'priority date' based on 'type'.

Your 'type' has changed, so, IMO, yer priority date should change, as well.

Now - as to 'telling all' - pardon - you should tell all, you know -

marriage status is global, in the eyes of USCIS/DHS .

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Thanks a lot for the useful information! Another question: That means when my status changed, my previous one-and- half year wait has wasted, right? I have to wait in line of F-3 from the moment I get the new case number? Really appreciate your reply! Also welcome any advice!

Thanks a lot! when and how should my Dad inform the USCIS? just make a phone call? Does it matter if my Dad tell them

now or later? Does it effect my present processing time? Looking forward to the new reply!
