We have had a long dramatic wait with the K-1 for various reasons, and I would like to know what unexpected problems we could run into with the exit visa? I am an American and he is from Santiago, which I have heard can be more complicated than Havana.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Hello Pamela,

I don't have any advice about the exit visa, sorry. I do have a question though. My case is a little different because it is a CR-1 and not a K1 but I think this part may be the same. The NVC tells me my case is complete, but they have not mentioned that they will send it to Havana or anything. Can you tell me about your experience getting the interview date? Did the NVC schedule it for you? did you call the tool free number that is used for scheduling non-immigrant interviews for Cubans? Any information is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Delfin, I also applied for a K1 visa, it went to the NVC after USCIS processed it. I received a letter yesterday from the NVC with a bar code and the HAV case number. The letter stated that the NVC was done processing it and that it would be sent to the Embassy/Consulate within one week. I did have my HAV case number before because I calle the NVC. With this number I called the Appointment Scheduling Service and got the appointment, but it is for August of this year. I've been calling 2 times every day and no change, as a matter of fact they're scheduling appointments for September now. They told me K1 visas were the first ones the get the better/faster appointments so I don't know what's going on. I've seen here in VJ that most K1 visa applicants from Cuba get the interview 2-3 months from the date they call, but I don't know why it's taking so long now. I'll go for a couple of days to Cuba at the end o the month and try to get some answers at the embassy, although u doubt they'll be able to do anything else. Best of luck to you guys!

Hi guys I feel your pain, we recieved petition approval Jan 11, after getting the HAV number I called the scheduling line and got an appointment for Mid May!!. Jane and her daughter have just recently completed the medical exams and all other paperwork has been ready. I thought I saw a post months ago about someone who was able to get an earlier appointment after everything was complete, but I have not been able to find it.
