It's the perceived attack, in front of a live national audience, on the institution of the court itself - an independent and co-equal branch of government.

I bet if Obama could do it again, he might very well rethink that move and do it differently.

It made no sense to me for Obama to dress down the Supreme Court during that speech. He didn't score any political points as the Supreme Court doesn't run on polls and is supposed to the least responsive branch to the whims of the public. Even more disturbing was knowing that one party (in this case the Dems) controls two of the three branches of government while trying to publically intimidate the last remaining branch.

It was a dumb issue to bring up as campaign finance reform is way down on the public's list of worries in a non-presidential year at that. It certainly didn't win McCain many votes one of his pet issues. The irony was Obama didn't have worry about Federal laws on his campaign contributions because he didn't take Federal matching funds yet he wants plenty of oversight on his possible rivals' donors.

I've posted 3 times in this thread with full-paragraph views of exactly what I think of Obama's SOTU speech. You toss out your usual one-liner throwaways about "man child" "belittling" SCOTUS. Read what I've written, respond intelligently, then I'll take you seriously. Not before.
