So I am taking a week to go visit Josephine I arrive on Sunday 3/28. I know only a week!! unfortunately the company I work for gives me 3 weeks 1 week at a time and did not approve my request for an extra unpaid week.

We will be going on Monday to Cebu the plan is to visit the graves of her parents and where she was raised. We will also visit her younger sister and 2 brothers.

We will be there 3 nights returning to Cavite on Thursday after noon.

my problem is I want to make our evenings as romantic as possible; here is what I want to do.

1. I have a prepared statement to read when at her parents grave site asking for their blessing on our future marriage a friend is translating to Tagalog

(This is a surprise; do you think it would make her happy and is there any advice on what I should say?)

2. I want to pick a nice hotel to stay in and pamper her such as visits to spas (this is also a surprise)

3 I want to have romantic dinners with her each night maybe a club to dance

4 She has us roaming around on Wednesday visiting a few sites like the Chinese temple, Magellan's church etc

The big problem is places like Plantation Bay are quite far from the city and I don't know of any hotels in the city that offer Spa treatments or the service you get from places like that.

Any ideas or comments are appreciated.

suggestions on hotels greatly welcome or places to take her to.

Thanks

Great Plans!

You are very romantic.

If you don't set limits for budget, bring her to Marco Polo Plaza Hotel. They have spa. Most, if not all hotels have spa treatments.

Crown Regency Hotel in Fuente Osmeña is another option.

I am from Cebu. Crown Regency is in the heart of the metropolis.

Wow! Lucky you! We won't be vacationing the Philippines until Christmas 2010. One week is not enough time...wherever in the Philippines you're staying! :P

We will be going on Monday to Cebu the plan is to visit the graves of her parents and where she was raised. We will also visit her younger sister and 2 brothers.

This is very good. Definitely pay respects and ask for blessings from her relatives.

Wow, you're one of the few Casanovas left. Keep it up!

1. I have a prepared statement to read when at her parents grave site asking for their blessing on our future marriage a friend is translating to Tagalog

(This is a surprise; do you think it would make her happy and is there any advice on what I should say?)

I think Cebuano would be more appropriate...since it's the dialect. Alot of words, deep words and meanings, are better said in regional dialects. I think this is a beautiful idea! Perhaps thanking the parents on creating such a wonderful daughter, promising them to love and protect her forever, and doing whatever you can to make her happy. Sorry, I know it's alot...but that's just me thinking out loud.

2. I want to pick a nice hotel to stay in and pamper her such as visits to spas (this is also a surprise)

Nice call on the pampering! Women love it! Since you're romantic, why not give her a personal massage one night? It'll be more intimate.

3 I want to have romantic dinners with her each night maybe a club to dance

IMO, any dinner can be romantic. Feeding each other food always sets a romantic mood. On a side note, you must have lechon while you're there!!! Cebu is known for their lechon...it's THE best.

4 She has us roaming around on Wednesday visiting a few sites like the Chinese temple, Magellan's church etc

Sounds really nice! One day, I'd like to visit Cebu with my wife.

The big problem is places like Plantation Bay are quite far from the city and I don't know of any hotels in the city that offer Spa treatments or the service you get from places like that.

Any ideas or comments are appreciated.

I'd recommend visiting Baguio (I lived there for years and met my wife there). It's the Summer Capital of the Philippines. :)

Thanks

I'm pretty sure she will like the surprises!

If she likes karaoke (which most Filipinos do) take her to Pod 5. It's in Banilad Town Center. You can just ride a taxi and tell the cab driver to take you there. The room is exclusive, so, you can enjoy singing with her.

Marriott Hotel offers spa treatments. It's located in the Cebu Business Center, where Ayala mall is just walking distance away. Enjoy your stay in Cebu. It's a beautiful city!

WHen my fiance proposed to me, he booked a 3 day stay in one of the most renowned nature-like hotels in Mactan, Cebu - Plantation Bay. I like it there because they pretty much have everything you need and want in your stay.... name the things you are looking forward to having in your vacation - they have it. Spa, Game Zones, Kayaks, EVERYTHING... If you want to be super romantic - book the "Lover's Rock" a day ahead and have dinner there.. you will be facing the beach under the stars - one of the reasons that enticed me to saying yes to my fiance hehe. Room rates are ranging from 200 USD to 500 USD depending on the season.

Plantation Bay still has the name and I also have been there. Yet, my friends frown upon it due to lack of maintenance. It seems like the management is quite complacent.

Imperial Palace must be one of the newly-opened hotels in the Philippines (and in Cebu at that). I was no longer there when they opened but my friends say it's spectacular.

If you really want to be in the center of Cebu metropolis where you could go bar hopping, Marriott and Crown Regency in Osmeña Blvd. are better options.

Greetings!

1.It would be more remarkable if you had it in cebuano translation. anyways, just the thought of you going with her in her parents grave is awesome.

2.When it comes to pampering her and romantic dinners please, i strongly suggest spa and dinner in plantation bay or shagrila hotel.

3. Just dont forget to spend time maybe dinner with her family either in a nice restaurant or maybe at home.

I like marco polo too, it's on top of the hills so you can see the view of the whole city, it's just far enough away from the busy city ( 15-20 mintues w/o traffic) and i think it's less than half the cost of plantation bay and more peaceful than the waterfront, they have a nice bar on top of the building.

3 I want to have romantic dinners with her each night maybe a club to dance

You can have a romantic dinner at the Pino Filipino restaurant or the La Tegola cucina italiana in Busay Cebu...

I stayed at Marco polo Cebu. It was very nice. It's not on the beach of course but if you want to do day trips, scuba or whatever they set that up for you. You just ask at the front desk. enjoy your trip where you go.

Thank you all so far for the advice.

I am leaning towards the Crown Regency or Marco Polo both are roughly 1/2 the cost of Plantation Bay.

I am going to call them to see what Spa packages they have to treat Jo to.

I like the karaoke idea for one night were I will serenade her with my Frank Sinatra like voice  (that is what I keep telling myself)

I think I will save Plantation Bay for when we return for more than a few days; also I to would like to visit Baguio someday.

Thanks again!

Marco polo has some live music in the lobby lounge at night that's ok. My fiancée likes live relaxing music. There's a bar there but we didn't go in. We also took a taxi to the water front hotel a few nights and sat in the lounge / cafe where they also had some live music. She liked that a lot. The waterfront hotel has a casino upstairs but we didn't go in. We just listened to music and enjoyed our dessert there after dinner.

My wife and I stayed at the Crown Regency Hotel in Fuente Osmeña and found it a very nice place to be. They hava a great spa and I recommned the couples treatment. We were pampered like royalty.

I also stayed at the parklane hotel and it was pretty nice as well. Parklane is close to the big mall in Cebu. Book these hotels online.

if you really like your girl to feel like she is a queen, stay with her in shangri-la cebu, you won't ever regret that you stay there and your woman too. and to be more very romantic walk along with her in the beach while the sun is setting down and have a candle light dinner in the evening and request someone to do a violin in the background while you two are eating together,,,,, that would be a one nice romantic that your woman would never ever forget....
