Some of these aren't listed on the website Rhianner posted - do I need them all? Because I have everything I need if I go by that but by this list I think I'd be missing a couple and/or am outside the age requirement.

Okay. So I should already have all these - for MMR, is there any difference between getting the vaccinations as a baby, like I did and getting them as an adult? I just don't want to have to get a second one if the one I got when I was young will suffice.

The thing about the MMR shot is that generally you only have one shot, but they found out that not all children develop an immunity to MMR with the first shot, thus we get a "booster" shot to help the kids who werent immune the first time.

If you don't want to get a shot without knowing if you need it or not, go get a titer test for MMR. It'll test if you're immune. If you are, bring that with you, if you're not, you need the 2nd shot.

the only mmr shot in my book was when i was in highschool, the booster. however they needed to see 2 shots in my book so i had to go for an mmr booster at my local clinic which was free, same with my TD shot i had to get a booster.

as dr. seiden explained it to me " we the cdn doctors know you got them as you would not have been admitted to school without it, however the U.S. doesn't care and wants to see a physical paper record of all the shots as a baby and as an adult".

According to my information sheet from the Vancouver medical clinic [which is conveniently divided up into sections by age range], as of Aoril last year, 19-26 year olds needed TDap, MMR, Varicella, and HPV (if female).

After 27 you don't need HPV but still need the others.

After 50 you don't need MMR but they add influenza to the above list.

After 60 they add Zoster to the above list.

They will not accept any other tuberculosis+ vaccine. It MUST be TDap, specifically.

[i had to pay $55 for it at a travel medical clinic in Vancouver right after my medical exam.]

They will accept a verbal declaration that you have had chicken pox in lieu of Varicella.

They will accept titers blood tests to prove immunity in lieu of Varicella and MMR.

[These are what I did for these two.]

They only need you to have had the first shot of the HPV series at the time of the medical. AOS interview might inquire as to whether you have continued the schedule, Not being female, I don't know. This wasn't applicable to me.

Of course in the last 6 months or so didn't they remove HPV as a requirement?

[i'm virtually certain that you're between 19 and 64, given your picture. :) If not, let me know and I'll check the appropriate age band. Teenagers need a whole 'nother stack of shots.]

Now on top of these requirements the CS in Salt Lake City wouldn't transcribe my I-693 unless I also had a Hepatitis (A or B, I forget which. I got the first shot of the combo series. $55 grumblegrumble) vaccine.

HPV is no longer required, and neither is Zoster. You also don't need a HIV test anymore.

Here's the info direct from the CDC: http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/PDF/wk/mm5901-Immunization.pdf page 2 has a table.

Sigh, that's what I was afraid of, I hate extra blood work - it's not a needles thing, it's veins thing. I hate them.

I got two in 1990, so I don't know if the second was a booster or not? I dunno.

I'm 21, :) But thanks, I did know the HPV was no longer required and I'm pretty thankful, I really did not want to get that one.

If you got two in your records, you should be fine.

The worst thing that will happen is that the doctors tell you to go get another shot which delays you by a few hours.

Well, look at it this way (if it makes it better, haha)....

I'd rather have the titre test to see, then to get a vaccine injected into my body (unless absolutley needed).

If I were you (& I did do this myself), go get the titres done. And then if they say you need the vaccine, get it/them.
