seems like a lot of stuff has happened over the past month. congrats on the visa approval j!

as for my fiancee and i, she just recieved her packet 3 yesterday.... curse you montreal embassy and your slow processing!

anyway, i have a few questions that i would like to ask to help my fiancee out with what needs to be done.

with regards to packet 3, i am assuming that the items on the checklist that is provided are to be obtained but not all will be sent, correct?

now, which of these items can be a copies and which must be originals?

also, the packet requests a police clearance from her place of residence for the last 16 years if i am not mistaken.

well, she has only been living in canada for the last 3 years. will she need an additional one from her home country?

thanks in advance.

You are correct. You just need to make sure you have all the documents prior to the interview and must be original (birth certificate, police report, medical report, etc..) To my knowledge, if she has lived in any other country over 6 months after the age of 16 may require to submit a police certificate. I would just email your embassy for better clarification.

hello guys.. How did you found out that NVC sent the package to the beneficiary's country? cos my fiance called NVC and they said they just received it and assigned us our MNL# but didn't told us when they gonna send it

I would just call back and verify if they sent it. It did take a week for them to send the case to our embassy. After that, you can track it via DHL.

I assume so. That's the way it was with my fiance's packet 3. He had to fill out and sign the DS-230 Part 1 and send it back right away. But the signed checklist he will send once he has everything on the checklist. But he keeps everything on the checklist, those are the things he will need to bring with him to his interview. I assume it's the same way for you.

It might be there already. For us the package was sent so fast to Finland. In fact, the Helsinki embassy already had our petition before we even got the letter in the mail from the NVC. I would email the embassy and ask them if they received it, they might of already.

Besides calling, you can send them an e-mail inquiry. My fiance did so and got a reply as soon as they sent the documents to my embassy.

The NVC’s e-mail for these inquiries is NVCINQUIRY@state.gov. The Subject Line of the e-mail should be the relevant NVC Case Number. Provide the applicant’s name and date of birth and the petitioner’s name and date of birth.

Hello all, i'm a latecomer to this thread. I also filed in March, we've been lucky to go through the approval process quickly. Now my fiancee and I are anxiously awaiting interview date and packet 4 from China consulate. I hope we're lucky with this too, i'd like to be there with her on her interview date but i think it will be in mid or late August and i won't be able to be there at that time. Anyway we're thankful the process overall has been fairly quick.

Good luck to everyone.

Darn it I feel like I have been waiting forever for my tax return transcripts. *sigh* Just have to keep waiting...

We're sort of in the same boat, BirdyGirl. John is waiting on his new work contract :-(((( Everything else I have gathered, but I don't dare to send off the Checklist...just in case, a friend offered to be our joint sponsor.

But I know, this waiting sucks. I could have the visa already in hand, weren't it for the contract. Oh well. We'll be fine :-) I'm glad we're not alone in this situation. Good luck!!!!!!!!!

Once you get the hardcopy of your NOA2, the chances that your case has reached NVC are pretty big. Call NVC and talk to a human. You have to provide him/her with your USCIS case number, your and your fiance(e)'s first and last name and DOB. If your case is there, the NVC officer will provide you with your NVC case number. Now, that is the number you have to write in the subject line later when you make an e-mail inquiry about what's going on with your case i.e. if it has been forwarded to your embassy.
