My wife already had a medical exam done in May so we are still good as far as the year thing goes. We are filing our AOS. She has all her vaccinations and everything. But there's one CS in our town and he told us he's not going to just sign it that he wants to do the whole thing physical, bloodwork, and everything. And we don't need it done but he refuses to just 'sign' the thing. What should we do?

If you're sure her vaccinations at the time of K1 were complete you can sent the DS-3025 vaccination sheet from there.

If she's had shots since being in the US then she does need the CS. She doesn't need a new medical so I would call other CS's to see what they cost. If the price of the medical at this CS is cheaper than gas and the NEW CS just for vaccinations then you might just have to bite the bullet.

Alternatively, you could try taking the 693 instructions where it states that K1's don't need a new medical and hope he sees sense.

Good luck!

I see countless posts about these same issues. Some of the problems are a LOT of CS will not sign off on ANY portion of the I-693 even though you have them read along where it states another exam is NOT required if the previous exam is less than 1 year ago, in which case it is with my wife. I had a CS lie to my face once we were at her office even though in a phone conversation she said she would do the transcription of immunizations for $125, which I know is way over priced. She refused to do it and wanted $415 for an exam. I just left her office, and of course I was pissed, and drove to another CS that said she would do the transcriptions for $10 or a full medical for $165. Needless to say I drove the 50 miles. It don't matter if you know the rules or NOT, these CS do damn well what they please, and they know they have us in a bind as this form, I-693, is a MUST, exam or NOT.

You may have to do some driving to find another CS.

As has been mentioned above, a lot of civil surgeons, typical of many doctors, tragically lose the ability to read once they graduate med school. Even if you show them the I-693 instructions that specifically say that all they have to do is fill out the first, last, and vaccination sections of the I-693, they still aren't interested.

The fact that he's the only one in your town is telling. Means there's no competition, and he knows darn well that he can do whatever he pleases.

Best solution here is to phone around among the somewhat more distant CS's until you can find an honest one that can actually read, and then do the math: How many hours of driving is saving hundreds of dollars worth at $7.50 per hour for your time plus the price of gas? You'll find that it doesn't take a huge reduction in the offered price to make a nontrivial drive worth it. The only way we can hit back at the unreasonable CS's is to hit them where it hurts - starve out their pocketbook.

DON'T PANIC

i have posted an alternate source document that may help you explain to the CS what pages of the I-693 are nessesary for your situation, but Vanessa & Tony indicate that i post it too often. Perhaps you will find it somewhere in the AOS forum. I would think it might help as the intructions on the I-693 may be ambiguous to some SC. Good luck
