Green card expired - haven't received my new one yet

Alright, maybe someone can help me here, I'm pretty confused.

I went to my biometrics appointment back in January 2010. My green card expired on March 3rd 2010 and I still haven't gotten my new card. Am I illegal in this country now? Is it normal that it takes so long to get the new green card?

The very first NOA you received (I-797, aka NOA1) was your proof that your PR/Green Card was extended by 1-year. You will certainly want to hang on to this and use it (with your now expired PR/Green Card) of your legal status in the US.

Getting your new card has nothing to do with when your current card expires. It takes as long as it takes, and as Otto und Karin explained, you have an extension letter now should you need it.

If you went to bio in Jan, I believe you filed in December.

If you want to know approximate processing length, you can refer this list :)
