Got my new China Visa

In Changsha last year, my allowed stay was about to pass. So my fiancee' took me to apply for an extension of stay in China. Cost 940 yuan, but I was allowed 30 extra days (after 3 weeks of processing). So total, I was there 51 days past original visa time expiration. If you find yourself nearing the limit of stay, you can apply (and I assume obtain) a 30 day extension. May be uniform in China, but in Changsha, we were told to apply a minimum of 10 days BEFORE your time is up, else it is automatic denial. Also were told only one extension per visit.

These policies vary not only locally but by how much under the table cash is involved in your request or your "connections".

I got the PM, thanks. I'm going to paste in the meat of it here for others to see. Did you pay any additional fee to either the agency or Consulate for the two-year visa?

================================================================================

========

You may apply for the 2 year visa by submitting copies of both your

marriage certificate and your wife's passport copy. The visa application

only has an option for multiple entries for 12 months, so just cross out 12

months and write in 24 months. It's as simple as that. These visas will

give you multiple entries for two years, with 90 days per entry.

I did this and just received the two-year visa with 90 day stays. One note is that this agency tells me the two-year visa is not available in San Francisco, so use their Houston or Chicago offices. Very satisfied with the service and the passport was back a couple days early.

Thanks, I will. We had a possible sudden trip come up where we might have needed to travel as soon as next week. Turns out we can handle my wife's issue without making the trip that soon but now we can go at anytime. I was going to have to have pages added to my passport to hold ten years worth of China visas. This will solve that problem too.
