I agree with the hotel option. My nerves would be shot too if I had to travel from Birmingham at that time. I honestly think that preparation is the key. I was so nervous, but being extra organised definitely helped me. I stayed at the Churchill Hyatt just off Oxford Street the night before. It only took 3 mins to walk to the embassy and as a bonus I got my stay for free cos I work for the company. But if I hadn't have got it, I still would have booked somewhere cheaper!

Timeline

Having had my interview just over a month ago, I would certainly recommend staying over. I got a good deal from a website offering discount on a nice hotel near Lancaster Gate tube station. One stop hop to Marble Arch and a stroll around the corner. Was able to leave bag at the hotel so didn't have to bother with the pharmacy. Another bonus was a very nice pub (The Mitre) just a few yards down the road from the hotel the night before. Chance to relax and not stress.
