Interview

Hello !

As i recently stated in another topic ive got my interview date for my k-1 (woot!) April 30th @ 0900

I am just wondering because it is that early is it worth staying in a hotel overnight? Or is it worth me getting the 05:43 train to get there @ 07:50. Will that give me enough time to get from Euston station to the pharmacy to drop my phone off an then back to the embassy for about 08:30 to queue?? It will be rush hour and i imagine london will be quite busy!

Thanks so much for your help

Jmr

Well...think about it. Do you really want the stress on the day of your interview if the train will run on time and if you get to the US Embassy and don't get lost or anything? You might have enough time, but my nerves would be completely shot if I was trying to do that.

I was so glad all we had to do is get up, have a bite to eat, and just be there. I agree with Justine 100% I would not want to have to worry about getting lost or traffic or anything else.

haha, I think all of our's are. I know mine are since it's been 2.5 hours since David's interview started and I haven't heard anything yet!! ARGH!

But, to answer your question about hotels, try one of the "last minute" websites for London. I'm not gonna lie, lodging in London is SUPER expensive...and what the Brits call a "hotel" I call a hostel at best, a hole in the ground at worst, all for price of 50 pounds a night...eep! I guess NYC is no better...My recommendation is to get a room somewhere near a tube stop...have you taken the Underground before?

The Underground seems pretty daunting at first, but it's not bad once you get used to it. They have a trip planner on the main site which can help you figure out how much money you need in fares and which trains to take.

Oh, and bask in the glorious splendor of cleanliness of it. You will NOT find that in the U.S.!! I swear you could probably eat off the ground on it!

dancing in joy huh? lol, I'll go with that one :)

We stayed at the Millenium Mayfair which was seriously about 100 yards from the embassy. I dont think it's cheap though. I used airmiles to pay for it :) It was a pretty nice hotel. I slept comfortably and they let us leave our bags after we checked out so we could go and explore a bit more after we had our interview.

It seems most peoples interviews are at 9am, do they just tell everyone to arrive then? Mine is next week at 9am, I am staying overnight at Newbury park just outside london, they have free parking and it takes about 30 mins on the tube from there. I paid £70 inc, breakfast.

I wasn't on there but I am now!

I walked past the Embassy the other day after i'd had my medical, just to make I knew where it was and it was quiet, no queues, infact nobody waiting at all... only 2 cops outside, I guess its busy on a morning then gets quieter. I went past at about 2pm.

I actually asked the first gal we spoke with during our interview how long it takes for them to get finished. She said they try to get finished with all the interviews before lunchtime!!!! The room was full while we were there. I have NO idea how they would get finished by lunch unless they take it about 3 in the afternoon :) There weren't THAT many immigrant visa people there so I can only assume that since they can process the N visas far faster than the I visas that they really do get finished with all of it by mid day.
