About adding me to my husband TAX

Just want to ask you guys who have done this also....my husband is about to add us in his Tax...what does he need? thanks so much for your time in answering my query...

Does he need to fill up W7? or any idea please...thanks God Bless us all...

theres a vj member whos trying to add his wife to his taxes also and shes still in the philippines they said a copy of her passport is what the needed go to DFA and get a red ribbon or notarized copy of your passport but im not sure if the SSA office will accept that

I just sent my papers to my husband and he received my passport notarized certified copy...with my birth certificate, marriage certificate....and that will i still be filling up W7 form ? or just my husband can do this? or if not, scanned and send it to him via email? i didnt fill up W7 or any form, all they need is your signature

The copy of the passport has to authenicated by the DFA...not just notorized from my understanding. (the only notorized copy they will accept is if the US embassy in manila will do it) I am looking to go to the SS office to talk to them...but the w-7 has to be sumitted with your husband's tax return and it has to be a paper filed....no e-filing. The deal we got from the DFA wasnt the red ribbon paper that I have heard about. I dont know if what i have will be accepted. I might just apply for an extension to file my taxes so my wife will have her SSN by then and we shouldnt have to wait much longer for her visa.

I submitted a regular copy of my wife's passport and they accepted it with the W-7 no problem. The only problem I had was I was unable to get my refund until my wife got here. The bank rejected the direct deposit since her name was not on my account at that time. Your bank may be OK, I think it depends on the bank's policies.

yes you need to fill up W7, photocopy your passport the biographical page must be notatized within your state. It can be anybody who is legal to perform notary. We get our refund last yr after 8 weeks we filled thru paper mail. When the IRS send our ITIN you will need it to get your husband state refund. Good Luck

Problem is the OP is not in the US...still in the PI, so that presents a problem.

Thank you for all the input guys...you guys Rock!.....i appreciate it ....so will just wait for the W7 to be send to me by my husband right? so I can signed it? or what? He can do it by himself? with my notarized Passport, Birth Certificate and Marriage Certificate? How about if you have kids? the same thing with them on W7? or just me as a wife? thanks and sorry for being dumb about this this thing....
