no. I tried learning but, javed did not know what I was saying.. :(

so I quit!

You will ask him to learn Urdu. If you talk to him in Punjabi then he must knows what you are saying.

Man is a wonderful creature; he sees through the layers of fat (eyes), hears through a bone (ears) and speaks through a lump of flesh (tongue).

Yipee! I like this! I need to figure out each word, so...

is the litteral translation as follows????

Fasla tu hai magar koi fasla nahi (Urdu)

(there is distance between us but in reality it is not )

Distant you are, but any distance is not

Muj say tum Juda sahi dil say tu Juda nahi (Urdu)

(You are far away from me but not from heart)

Of me you separate are, my heart you separate are not

sar katee ja eyay ruKh se naqaab aahistaa aahistaa

In order to understand this poetry it is not a good idea to translate whole shair word by word

sar katee ja eyay ruKh se naqaab aahistaa aahistaa

Head veil (burqa) is coming down from the face of the girl

nikal ta aa rahaa hai aaftaab aahistaa aahistaa

Sun (face of the girl) is coming out (from Dark Burqa) slowly slowly

Man is a wonderful creature; he sees through the layers of fat (eyes), hears through a bone (ears) and speaks through a lump of flesh (tongue).

I understand, but to learn to speak Urdu, it helps to know each word... then I can make my own poetry! :)

Thanks for the translation

I tried reading that to Javed. he could NOT understand me.

so I think its offical I QUIT learning urdu/punjabi.

Very weird your husband seems to me very unromantic :( … he should help u to understand his language… ;)

Tell u the truth Urdu is very romantic language. There are very few languages in the world (e.g Arabic, Persian) where you find the best combinations of words with real scenario.

Urdu

Raat yunh dil mein teri khoee hui yaad aayee

Jaise veeraaney mein chupkey sey bahaar aa jaye

Jaisey sehra on mein howley se chaley baadey naseem

Jaisey beemaar ko bey wajhey Qaraar aa jaaye

English Translation

Last night, your lost memories crept into my heart

as spring arrives secretly into a barren garden

as a cool morning breeze blows slowly in a desert

as a sick person feels well, for no reason.

Man is a wonderful creature; he sees through the layers of fat (eyes), hears through a bone (ears) and speaks through a lump of flesh (tongue).

There are few families in Houston from Batistan whom I know personally but I don't think you will find anyone on VJ.
