AOS ----- change of address?

Hello,

I am almost done filling out the forms and gathering all my information for my Adjustment of status, I-130, I-485 and I-765.

My question is:

My husband and I are moving at the first of April from our apartment that we have been living in for 6 months to a house in the same city.

All the forms have our current address on them. We were hoping to send them out before the end of this month, before we move.

Should we:

-keep our current address on the forms and notify them in the cover letter of our new address as of April 1st?

-Fill them out again with the address we will be at as of April 1st? Since they will probably be receiving them around that time.

Also, If we send the forms out with a defunct address are there specific forms we need to send to notify them of our new one?

Thanks so much for your time!

I would re-write the forms with the new address and send it out once you move (or maybe a few days before). issue is, if your name is not on the post box you won't get the USCIS mail

The cover letter wouldn't work, you would still need to send in a form AR-11 and do the change online as well. Your husband would also need to submit an I865 change of address (865 is the change of address form for the 864 form)... WAY too much hassle in my opinion.

You CAN change your address but it's risky and to be avoided if at all possible (which is why i've waited.. much as it's killed me).

Vanessa&Tony, thanks so much for the reply, I recognize that you have helped answer my questions before. Its greatly appreciated as we try and figure out all this complicated stuff.

We were thinking we would just use our new address. We have met with the current residents and I'm sure they would be happy to put our name on the mailbox and notify us when we receive mail. I also have read somewhere about USCIS sending an e-mail notification when they receive the package. Do you know anything about this?

The only thing is, I have read other posts that say the information you put on the forms has to be accurate on the date you send it. Would we be violating this policy somehow?

The process of filling out forms and gathering the information has really taken us longer than it should and we were eager to send them within the next week. How long is it generally from the day of sendoff to USCIS (courier) to the time you will receive any notification?

The end of the month seems so far away and I need to get this filed ASAP to get my work permit, would you recommend just waiting, or following through with the plan I have noted above.

Thanks!
