Looking ahead to Advance Parole

I'm looking at the fees for AOS and wondering, will I end up paying $305 additional just for the sake of being able to travel sooner on Advance Parole? In other words, if I want my upcoming newly married wife and I need to leave the country in mid July, do I have to request AP? My fiancee is expected to arrive stateside by the end of this month.

In the instructions of the I-485 it says there is no fee to file AP or EAD if filed with the I-485. Yes you will need to file it to leave the country, no you will not have to pay.

Hehe no problem. I am right about the fee's, I've applied for mine and had my biometrics already. Its $1010 for the fee, and covers all 3 applications. Might as well apply when they cost you no extra

The key; being filed with or after you've filed your I-485. Same goes for the EAD/I-765. Both fees are waived if filed with/concurrently the I-485 or after (with proof you've filed, such as the NOA1 that you'll get for the AOS). Total fee is currently $1010.

As what was already said before . If you file the AP and EAD , at the same time you do not need to pay extra for the AP or EAD . It's included in the AOS $930.00 fee not counting the $80.00 for biometrics . total $1,010.00 . Now if you want to work right away , file your EAD and if you want to go back to your country before AOS is finished then file for AP . Anyways , the AP is only good untill you get aproved for the AOS . Then at that point you don't even need a AP your green card will alow you to return back into the USA . As long as it's still valid ( not expired ). And with employment the EAD is only good to have if you allready have a job and your permanent residence is about to expire . So you can continue to legally work .

So word to the wise, or in this case, word from the wise is that file for AOS immediately, along with Advance Parole. Thanks AaronM

yup! Thats what we did too, as the AP can take up to 3 months to show up, and the greencard can be either super fast or take several months, and I wanted to make sure I the option to work and go home if needed.
