Okay. But you did have some type of TB screening test while in your country? If so, the CS should have transcribed that it was done. If not, then you are required to get it.

It is not the complete medical exam, but a TB screening, showing that you are either positive or negative.

Section III, number 2 says that you are not required to have another medical examination as long as...the medical examination did not reveal a Class A medical condition.

In the first page of your attachment, however, it fails to indicate that there is No Class A or Class B Condition. This MAY be the cause of the RFE.

The medical exam was $70. But with insurance, my wife paid only $30.

I'm sorry to hear you're getting RFEs. I hope that my posts were helpful.

Thanks for writing outside the box :D

Depending what country you're from, K1's either have a TB skin test, or a TB chest X-ray. My country did x-ray.

The section you referred to above is ONLY if the K1 MEDICAL revealed a Class A medical condition. You are not required to complete ANY section of the medical (including the skin test). You ONLY need to complete Part 1, Part 2 (vaccination chart) and Part 5.

OP I think the issue is your box is ticked saying an exam was carried out. If it was JUST the vaccination that box should not have been ticked... I'm trying to find an example vaccination form to show you.. okay I can't but theres this: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/men...0004718190aRCRD

"Q. I had my medical exam completed before the new TB or vaccination requirements went into effect, and have not yet submitted it to USCIS, or I have submitted it but it has not yet been reviewed. Am I now required to have a new medical exam that meets the new TB and/or vaccination requirements before I can adjust status?

Generally, no. When reviewing a Form I-693, USCIS will note the date the exam was conducted and refer to the Technical Instructions, medical requirements, and form edition that were in effect at that particular time, remembering that for each revision of the Technical Instructions there was a 30-day grace period. If the civil surgeon conducted the medical exam properly and in keeping with the exam requirements and form edition in effect on that particular date, there is no need to return for a second exam or to have the results recorded on a newer edition of Form I-693, as long as you submit the Form I-693 before its one-year expiration."

and this

" Q: If an applicant is required to receive only the vaccinations, and not undergo the entire medical exam, does he/she have to submit the entire Form I-693?

No. Applicants who are not required to have the entire medical examination need to submit only pages one, three and five of the new form. The required sections include Part 1, Information About You, the vaccination record portion of Part 2, and Part 5 (if the vaccinations are administered by a civil surgeon) or Part 6 (if the vaccinations are administered by a local health department). Pages two and four, that would have been left blank, do not need to be submitted."

Based on this I honestly think the fact the CS said they saw you for an "exam" means there should be "exam results". You didn't have an exam for him to fill in the vaccine part. Your CS is a moron. When I can I'll scan my "immunisations only" form and upload it. Possibly tomorrow.

Hope that helps in the meantime.

**Edit - also this post: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...t&p=3660983 is pretty recent and confirms that the poster did not have a TB skin test and had no issues.

Upon the comments you made marked in red, if you see my I-693 forms I attached in previous post, the CS did NOT tick the column of No Class A or Class B Revealed.... I'm very confused now... I dunno what's best to do right now...

Sorry what I meant was, in part 2 they wrote in the date for "first examination" and wrote "supplemental form only". There should be NOTHING listed in that section. Nothing at all for section 2 EXCEPT the vaccination sheet.

I'm adding more to the confusion, I suppose. My wife did not enter on K1 visa, rather on an H1B. She was required to have TB screening.

Ah now I'm seeing clearer... haha... I guess we did the correct thing after all and the CS was right all along?? I guess I'm gonna have to ask the CS to do the I-693 again and then I will send in some evidence that I have already done medical exam in my home country and also highlight the I-693 instructions to them.

If all the forms are accurate and complete, I don't see how you're getting multiple RFEs on the medical. Something, somewhere is wrong...whether it be you, the CS, or even USCIS.

Sorry for adding to the confusion, again. I hope you and your CS get everything straightened out! :D

Sorry to hear that you have the same RFE as well :( Seems like a lot of people are getting it!! I contacted my congressman to help me find out more information. I still yet to hear from them since they just sent an inquiry to USCIS this morning... I hope to get some info from them. For me, if I don't get anything from them this week, I am thinking of doing the whole medical exam next week OR make another copy of I-693 and then explain in a letter to them that I do not need to do the whole medical exam but only portions... etc.

As promised (but later than I promised) here is what your I-693 SHOULD look like.

Notice that on page 1, part 2, the "exam" part is BLANK like it's supposed to be. ONLY part 1, part 2 (vaccinations page ONLY) and part 5 (or 6) are to be completed.

thanks for the reply LC ,Im from NC if you don't mind can you tell me how you contact the congressman of your state. My husband told me to make an infopass but im not sure if it worth it, it so time consuming.

I see the sample of how I-693 should look like, i wonder why on my I-693 that CS put the date on page 1, part 2 of first examination then leave the boxes BELOW blank, maybe that is why it makes it look incomplete, maybe if she just leave the date of first examination blank like the sample here i did not get an RFE since she didn't do any examination she just transcribed the vaccination record plus the date of transcription is already on the top of page 1. what tough is USCIS RFE letter don't really state what is wrong with our I-693. so confused and pissed!

  • 9 years later...

I paid for a full medical for immigration in the UK prior to k1 interview and admission to the US. I was missing the flu shot and tetanus update but I had to re pay for the entire medical here in NYC because no civil surgeon would sign just the updated vaccinations, extremely annoyed but my medical wasn’t back in time, it clearly states you don’t have to file with the medical completed as long as you can show proof at interview. Most immigration attorneys who people choose to use advise not to have the full medical immediately because it’s only valid a year and most interviews are 12-14 months after filing. I had mine 1 month before and lab work wasn’t back so we filed and I got my biometrics app through in the mail. I advised in the packet that’s the medical wasn’t back but included my original k1 medical vaccinations and the medical report my dr gave me here after she administered the new vaccines. I’ve not been asked for anything else,

very annoyed to have had to pay $500 for medical in England and another $200 here, what a money making scam 😡😢

as i understand it, you had your medical but didnt complete your vaccinations at Knightsbridge ? they do actually offer to do any missing ones there which is what i did for the ones I had missing, it doesnt cost much more than you would get it done anywhere else that would have saved you a lot of hassle. I know that knowledge will not be helpful to you now but to anyone possibly coming across this old thread in the future.

The medical is also valid for 12 months to filing date, once your AOS is filed your medical is accepted at that point if still valid, so your interview could come outside that 12 month timeframe and still be good.

My tetanus was valid at the time so wasn’t renewable until after I entered the country. I have a bad reaction to the flu shot and I am asthmatic soon my dr usually refuses to administer. It wasn’t given because of fear of reaction which has had me get pneumonia after each administration. Hindsight is great but I was advised I can have it here when I’m due to get the tetanus and just get a dr to sign the forms. The reality wasn’t that.

regarding the medical I have already been advised that if my medical is valid 12 months and my green card interview comes in 14 months I need a new one. It’s valid for 12 months. Uscis confirmed this when I called. My visa medical at Knightsbridge was July 2019 of my visa interview falls after July 2020 I’ll require another medical. Luckily I had one to get my vaccinations updated in November so I’m good til nov 2020 but it’s a lot of money for nothing.
