I wanna come to this!!! IT's been crazy busy since I got here but I don't wanna miss this! Count me int.

:D

Thanks all!

Yeah, I'm excited to be on the road. Unforunately, I THINK I'm coming down with a cold! I was worried this would happen. I've been taking extra vitamins and sucking on Zinc lozenges for a few days, but I think a cold is coming on. Well, no biggie. I'm still leaving tomorrow. If I have to take it easier and take an extra day to get down there, so be it.

We'll definitely arrange a DC get-together in the not-too-distant future. I'm going to give myself a few weeks to get acclimated before I commit to anything like that, but soon enough, I'm sure!

Congratulations and welcome. Remind your mom that it's only a few hours away by plane, you haven't moved to New Zealand. And have a safe---and maybe even fun---trip!

I was just thinking that! A few years ago, I wanted to move to Australia and I know my parents are thankful I'll only be a short flight away instead.

Wyatt, Im sure your mom is also really happy for you. I'm sure she is glad you found a good woman who is worth moving for.

Have a safe trip!!

Yeah... Pacific Highway Crossing is closer, but I have a feeling they would have less experience dealing with these sorts of visas. I might be wrong though, since it IS a commercial crossing, and that's where the NEXUS office is.

I'm also wondering if I should go through the NEXUS lane and tell THAT guard what I'm doing, or if I should just get in the regular line. I'm inclined toward the latter. Hmm...

A song for our very own King of the Road...

*ahem*

...I know every engineer on every train

All of their children, and all of their names

And every handout in every town

And every lock that ain't locked

When no one's around.

I sing,

Trailers for sale or rent

Rooms to let, fifty cents

No phone, no pool, no pets

I ain't got no cigarettes

Ah, but, two hours of pushin' broom

Buys an eight by twelve four-bit room

I'm a man of means by no means

King of the road.

Oh that I'm not sure of. I just assumed Peace Arch was more convenient. I'm kind of used to the Pacific Highway being where people go to avoid the lines.

You might want to check reviews of POE to see what people have to say about both crossings. I would tend to think they'd have more experience with it at the Peace Arch too, but that is a total guess.

To answer the question from your other post, yes, either my wife or I cross the border pretty much every day. The only exception being on the weekend when one of us stays the night. We use both borders, depending on where we are coming from and where we are going.

At 6:00AM on a Wednesday, you aren't going to have much line ups at either border. I'm not sure the last time you were at the Peace Arch but they've been ramping up the construction since the Olympics ended and so its a little messy over there but there hasn't been much traffic and so its all good. The Pacific Highway on the other hand does not just deal with commercial and NEXUS. The commercial crossing is actually over in the 3 story building (building 2 is what they call it) next to the POE. And then the NEXUS office is in part of that building too. So the "main" building (building 1) where all the non-commercial vehicles go through is just as efficient as they are at the Peace Arch.

So if you are closer to the Pacific Highway and if you don't care about seeing the Peace Arch one last time then if it were me, I would just use the highway.

Yeah, I'll be coming from Langley, so the Pacific Highway crossing is probably about five minutes or so closer. I don't care about seeing Peace Arch one last time...just want to get across as quickly and efficiently as possible! I was just thinking that Peace Arch might have more experience with activating CR-1s, but then again, Biglos activated his at Pac Hwy. a few weeks ago, so it's probably no big deal. I'll just see what the wait times are once I get down toward the bottom of 176th St. If there's a much shorter wait at Peace Arch, I'll go there. Otherwise I'll just stick with Pacific Highway.

Have a safe trip - and let us know when you arrive.

Wyatt, the trip is doable in three days but you are going to be one TIRED man at the end of it! Hubby and I drove (well, heh heh heh...hubby did all the driving) from Chicago to Seattle and it took us four days. I wasn't the greatest co-pilot either, falling asleep on him.

Have a safe trip and keep us posted!

Thanks!

A lot of people don't think I can make it in three full days. I'm planning on proving them wrong! I think 1000 miles a day is more than doable. I've done 1150 miles in a day once, and that was in a '79 Trans Am with poor ventilation and less comfortable seats etc. I'm not saying it's going to be a cakewalk, but I think it can be done without seriously straining myself.

I don't know yet, actually! What do you suggest? You go through the border quite often, don't you? I'll probably be crossing at about 6:00 AM. I'm really on the fence as to which crossing I'll take.

My mother did Seattle to Tampa in three days, it's doable.

I would say Pac Crossing, btw.

Montreal: BEAT!!! Approved!!!!!
