quick question on getting Pam her SS#

No fee. Just have her bring her passport with her visa and I-94 (that's all they asked for when I applied for mine)

I just applied mine last friday, you don't have to pay anything. Just fill up the form iat the SS office and show your passport and I-94. They said they will mail it to me within 1-2 weeks... Good luck...

Just show her original passport and I-94. No need to photocopy them. They will just return those to her on the same day.

You are right. She can still get SSN even if you're not married yet.

I believe she needs to have her GC first to be presented to the local SS office. Get married first, and present your MC so once they issue her the SSN, its already on her married name, instead her single name.

I would say wait until she receives her GC so they won't keep changing anything on her legal docs or her GC.

GC is not neccessary to have when applying for SS#. We applied for my wife's SS# 2 weeks after she arrived in the US. As long as you get married a month before the I-94 expires, you can get the SS office to change the name to the new last name(my local office said 3/weeks before I-94 expires to get name changed).

When you apply for your AOS(GC), you're already married, so you would put the last name you're going to take, so when you get your GC, it will be in your new last name(if you changed it).

agreed! im under CR1 also i applied for my ssn a week after i arrived here w/o GC yet i didnt had any problem at all

do not need green card married a plus but not necessary and if the tell you they can not do it copy the page from thier web site and show them that they can now this will not allow her to work but is valid for tax purposes and other finacial aids (had that problem supervisor told me he could not issue her one till she could work went home looked it up on thier web site copied it took it back the next day and told the supervisor i exspected very fast service for doing his job got her card in less than a week )

Then I should prolly get back to the SSN office and whack that girl who told me that.

However, since I wasn't able to apply on that very day, my husband and I went home in despair. But next day after, I received my SSN card and my greencard altogether in the mail.
