Are there any UK VJers who can help me? My husband worked and lived in London for 10 yrs and got a drunk driving ticket 7 years ago. He no longer lives in the UK but requested all of the records from that time. We sent in the paperwork reflecting his fine and traffic school, no jail time, and a police clearance and now we seem to be having an RFE requesting this......

"

_COURT RECORDS:_______________________________________________

Please submit court or prison records indicating the nature of this person's conviction and sentence.

These records should bear the official seal of the issuing authority. "

We got this as an email, seemed very vague to me, I thought we submitted everything they needed. Maybe there is an addition British document neither of us know about?

Operators said they would snail mail a letter out 2 weeks ago with details that we still haven't received. The AVR says we found info missing or incomplete a letter was mailed on Feb 25.

I'm American, and he isn't a UK citizen, so neither of us know what they are requesting. Any suggestions would be WONDERFUL!!

Hi There

Not sure if this will help but i stayed in a couple of countries through out Europe before coming over to the USA

i am from the UK, i had to get police records from each of the countries i lived in as evidence(which was a pain)

what might have happened is with the speed fine, it may have been logged on records of UK police check

although i am not sure that is taken into account, speeding fines, so a bit confused there, was there anything other than

the speeding fine?

Maybe if you have put NO on the form and then when they checked it has shown up, i dont know thats all i can suggest

hope this helps or if someone else has a better suggestion

thanks

Yeah, the drunk driving offense that the OP mentioned, not a speeding ticket....

Didn't he go to court for a hearing, at which time the fine and traffic school was imposed?

You don't get a ticket in the UK for drink drive, you get arrested and taken to court and it counts as a recordable offence and goes on your criminal record.

They are asking for the record from the Court your husband attended, showing the precise nature of the charge dealt with by the court, what the sentance was and if a fine was imposed that it has been paid.

What to expect at the POE - WIKI entry

Thank you all. We have the "ACRO Police Certificate for Immigration Purposes" with a cover letter explaining what the police certificate covers- I imagine the cover letter is standard.

On the police cert it has the Date, Offence, Court and Disposal. Disposal has the fines, costs, and the driving course completion.

Is there ANYTHING else the UK VJers can think of that I need to get to respond to the RFE? Do you think this was sent in error?

Thank you all so much.
