Hi KhanI,

(friendly request)

As with you everybody else is also excited.

Could you please not block others questions with your excitement, you can always express it with updating your profile status or recent status update page....

In last few weeks I have noticed whenever I or somebody ask any question you immediately update thread with your case comments or something else...

Please try not to block others questions unless

you have answer for it or

yourself having question or

there is change with your case status....

hope you understand...

Thanks,

hi everyone again, your anticipation excites me to file the f2-a petition already. too bad, we need to get married first, should have done this 3 years ago.

question, is it advisable to have police clearance, and docs being asked together with form ds230 ready upon receiving NOA2?

another question especially for those whose beneficiaries are in the phils. did you submit original documents that came from the philippines (nbi/police clearance, etc.) or scanned copies should be fine?

told you i am this excited.

good luck to you everyone, hope the process speeds up even more! :)

hi homer, ill try to answer your question based on how i filed my Ds230.

1. as far as I remember, no petitioner docs were included.

2. the photocopies I sent were photocopies of the authenticated docs..

but i would still advise asking people who's got cases completed just to be sure

they would know better :)

hi cerene,

i dont see any problems securing the required docs in advance.

just be mindful that civil docs have limited time validity (police clearance with the shortest (6 mos)).

at any rate, police and nbi are quick to obtain. so it shouldnt be a problem. in my case it only took a day.

if you are renewing your passport (change to married name), you can do it as soon as you got your marriage contract. as you know, DFA changed their system.

original and a photocopy were submitted along with my ds230 :) hope this helps

Hi homer4all,

As NVC has just assigned me a case number I haven't reached that point yet. But I found these information somewhere and thought it will be helpful to you and many others including me.

Required documents from the Beneficiary for DS-230 Immigrant Visa (IV) Package

  1. Two passport-style photographs (2X2 inches) of the beneficiary. (Write down NVC Case# and beneficiary’s full name and date of birth on the back side of both photographs lightly)
  2. Completed and signed form DS-230 Part I by the beneficiary
  3. Completed and unsigned form DS-230 Part II by the beneficiary
  4. Photocopy of the beneficiary's passport biographic data page
  5. Original/certified copy of beneficiary’s birth certificate
  6. Original/certified copy of beneficiary’s and petitioner’s marriage certificate
  7. Original police certificate(s) of the beneficiary
  8. Original/certified copy of military record, if applicable
  9. Original/certified copy of divorce decree, death certificate, etc. of previous marriage, if applicable

NOTE: check Reciprocity by Country (select your country and scroll down to bottom) to see what documents are available from your country - many don't have military or police documents available.

Important:

• If any of the civil documents are not in English, translate them into English. NOTE: NOT necessary to notarize. Also, many sources say it's not necessary to translate, if the documents are in the language of the embassy where the interview will take place: see Documents The Applicant Must Submit

• Certified copy of the civil document must be from the respective agency. That means, birth certificate’s certified copy must be from the birth registrar’s office, etc.

• IRS Tax Transcripts can be obtained free by dialing 1-800-829-1040

• Forms start with “DS” (DS-3032, DS-230) are from the Department of State and must be completed by the beneficiary. Forms can be found at: Department of State Forms

• Forms start with “I” (I-864) are from the USCIS and must be completed by the petitioner. Forms can be found at: USCIS Immigration Forms.

Thanks !

Thank you Malvika and Perriteyl for updates...

Malvika I think no petitioner docs required if spouse f2a is in process..

and petitioner docs are only required for other family based cases... also we are providing petitioner docs in AOS package..

I found below link yesterday..

Pls see below from http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html

"

Who needs to submit petitioner documents?

If you are applying for an IR5 (Parent of a US Citizen) or an F4 (Brother or Sister of a US Citizen) visa, you are required to provide:

Original or certified copy of your Petitioner’s birth certificate

Original or certified copy of your Petitioner’s marriage certificate from the Petitioner’s current and all previous marriages.

"

but still I think no harm in providing petitioner docs if things doesn't get complicated by that..

Thanks,
