Hang on just a second and I'm sure someone else with family in India will come to answer you.

All I can tell you is that in Thailand, the national police want the same thing. Usually, the NOA2 suffices. We scan it and e-mail the images (front and back) to our Thai halves who then use it to request the police certifiacte. Maybe this will work for you, too.

Good luck!

My wife is in India and NVC told me to get 2 PCC[police clearence certificates] she got one from the passport office, but the city police wants a letter from US govt saying that my wife needs one PCC.. I paid my $400 bill online.... so now what to do?..somebody please help me

I don't have an India specific answer for you but if you paid NVC $400, you are on the CR1 or IR1 visa path, not the K3.

My husband is also in India... we had to get both PCC a couple of weeks back.... my hubby got his RPO PCC first... and then he took that along with a copy of the NOA2 to his district police office and was able to get it with out any delays < he also took all his neighbors and his parents, so they didnt even have to come to his house to prove residence> ... he his from Haryana...

I could be wrong... but what I think they want is to see the NOA2... what I did was scan the hard copy on the computer and then emailed it to him... then he printed it out and showed it to them along with the email that we recieved that said it was approved...

Honestly I havent seen too many situations where a little greasing of the palms didnt do the trick to get the ball rolling!!!

Your wife will need a PCC from her current residence local/district police station and one PCC from her passport issuing RPO. The NOA2 usually works or use the email/RFE that you got for the other PCC.

Has your IV bill cleared yet? Have your documents ready to send in.

Good luck.

If the applicant is residing in India and his or her Indian passport was issued within past 6 months is 16 years old or older tHEN the applicant needs a clearance from... just Regional Passport office .

If the applicant is residing in India and his or her Indian passport was issued more than 6 months prior to visa application and is 16 years old or older then the applicant needs from the following two places

1. Regional Passport office

2. The district police office serving the applicant's place of residence

I petitioned for my parents and they applied one in Regional Passport Office and the other one at their district local police station serving the residence.

They received in one week at both the places.....

Hope this helps....

Good Luck Thanks, Raj
