Just got a call from the Embassy Mexico DF. Very nice person who said that she handled our I130 and that it was "approved" (????) and that it was sent today to Ciudad Juarez..........

Now what? Why is it going to CDJ? I thought it was supposed to go to NVC....What CDJ is going to do with it?

First, I cannot believe she said "approved"....(too good to be true!)..he he..Even if she was very nice, very concerned, very professional !....

Then I though that CDJ was handling only the interviews.....

In short I am a little bit confused...

I130

2010/01/16: I130 sent at US Embassy Mexico DF

2010/01/19: I130 received (UPS confirmation)

2010/03/03: I130 package returned. Asking for utility bills.

2010/03/03: I130 sent again at US Embassy Mexico with the utility bills...

2010/03/08: Received a call from the Embassy: I130 ok and sent to CDJ

2010/04/12: Received NOA2 by mail APPROVED on March 5th

NVC

2010/03/25: Case number assigned by CDJ.

2010/04/27: I864 and DS230 sent

Hi Claireg !.. congratulations on you approval !...

Thats the same that the people of the consulate of Monterrey told me. After the I-130 approval they send all the papers to Ciudad Juarez. CDJ will contact you from now on.. they will ask you to send some information (and forms) and they will give you the appointment for interview.

Thanks Marisol but I am still suspicious...That was soooo quick.....and sooo unexpected!

I suppose now I have to prepare the affidavit of support and the I864 and send them to CDJ....

If you are renting, probably any kind of contract/ letter from the landlord....

If not, try to get the phone installed for 3 months!

Thanks!!!!! I don`t have bills in my name so I`m a little worry about that. I`ve been living in Mexico for 6 years,so I think I can use another document but don`t know what to use...

Claireg:

Yes !.. that was soo quick !.. it gives me hope that my petitions will be fast.

About the forms.. yes.. I think you can start preparing the forms.. I believe will be the I-894 and the DS-230 right? But send them to CDJ until they request you those.. because I think they will ask you for more things.. like police certificate, etc.. or that is for the time of the interview?? Im confused

A police certificate?????

In the DCF Guide says that,, I think in Mexico is the "Carta de antecedentes no penales", but I heard somewhere that no all the countries request that.. I dont know if Mexico requires it.

Typical DCF Procedure

1. You (and your spouse) will visit the US consulate to file your I-130 and required documents. Some consulates will accept the petition and supporting evidence via mail. Please confirm this via the consulate's website (or on the phone if possible). The following thread on the forums contains example cover letters for I-130 and visa applications: DCF Cover Letter Thread.

2- The I-130 will be adjudicated and either approved or denied. If it is approved the foreign spouse may apply for an IR-1 or CR-1 Visa (Immigrant Visa).

3- The foreign spouse will be required to submit a DS-230 Part 1 (visa application) as well as several required items on a checklist that the consulate will provide. The checklist will include items such as a Police Certificate, Birth Certificate, Previous Divorce Records, an Affidavit of Support (Form I-864), and others.

hello all! greetings from NJ!

Just a few questions since I haven't been on VJ for a while now. Claire, first of all congratulations on the approval. And yes, it goes to CDJ and everything will be with them from now on. I think it might be better than going through a NVC.

Claire, why did they CALL you? Aren't we supposed to get a written notice of the approval? Did they call you or your USC Husband? I won't be in Mexico for another 3 weeks and I just want to make sure my hubby is on top of things.

Ingrid, I also have an FM2 and dependiente economico y moral (or whatever it's called). I don't know if Mexico City has asked for more documents because as I mentioned I sent in packet and then came to US for a month. I'm hoping they accept it just like I sent it as I had spoken to someone and they assured me that I didn't need to send any bills. Only when I found out Claire's got sent back did I get worried. I had sent in a rent contract with both our names to prove bonafide marriage. I'm hoping they can use that as my evidence of residence. We also don't have phone or electricity in our names. I'll keep you posted what happens.
