So honeyko gets some vaccines at St Lukes Clinic, Manila, but cannot receive all of them because they are a timed series of 2 and 3 shots.

Specifically the Tdap, Varicella and HPV shots, the latter requiring a 2, then 6 month shot interval.

One health care worker told me that Immigration accepts the beginning shot in the series, and so you dont have to wait to apply for AOS for the final 6 months shot.

These two shots are not available for adults at Public Health, so we need to wait until honeyko is on my health insurance in 6 weeks. (Private clinic charges $600+ to do the vaccines)

Anybody ever get the "Vaccination Frustration" blues on a K1 Visa?

Should we just submit the AOS without the I-693 or just get it transcribed with incomplete vaccines? We just can't wait 6-8 months to submit AOS on a K1.

Thanks.

Send your AOS with the I-693. You don't want to risk an RFE.

I took Tdap, HPV, and MMR in SLMCEC in October last year. When I went to my CS in December, he didn't give me any shot. He said that Tdap comes in 5-10 years of interval while HPV is no longer required for AOS since December 14, 2009.

I sent my I-693 with no new medical exam or vaccines. I didn't get any RFE. Thanks God! My interview will be before March ends.

I hope you get through this fast. I really want to take a rest from dealing with immigration matters. A few more weeks and that goal should be completed.

Well, mahal was right behind you in November, and she received the same shots as you. She is 22, and many vaccines were marked as NOT AGE APPROPRIATE, so I guess this is the "blanket waiver".

So you are saying just get the St. Lukes DS-3025 Vaccination Record transcribed at the Civil Surgeon with no new vaccines?

It surprises me that the Mumps/Measles vaccines at St. Lukes were not given to you or my girl. Yet the USCIS website lists them as required vaccines:

Background

Under the immigration laws of the United States, a foreign national who applies for an immigrant visa abroad, or who seeks to adjust status to a permanent resident while in the United States, is required to receive vaccinations to prevent the following diseases:

* Mumps

* Measles

* Rubella

* Polio

* Tetanus and Diphtheria Toxoids

* Pertussis

* Haemophilus influenzae type B

* Hepatitis B

* Any other vaccine-preventable diseases recommended by the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices

I will be 23 come June. :P Yes, I got the best CS in Torrance after going to Inglewood and calling many other ill ones. I took with me my DS-3025 and when my CS looked at it, he explained to me that I needed no new shots. He just transcribed my records to the Form I-693 and asked me to return two days later for the sealed envelope. He gave me a copy of whatever he has sealed.

As I have mentioned, I only had Tdap, MMR, and HPV in SLMCEC. No more Varicella because I already had chickenpox when I was 9 years old.

Yes, same age range. Mahal never has had the chicken pox, and she received the first varicella shot at SLEC, and it is 2 in a series. So should she get the 2nd varicella before going to the Civil Surgeon?

Other poster said only first Tdap shot is required since it is 5-10 year interval

anything that has time intervals will be ok as long as right now when you goto the CS it still isnt time for the next shot. If its time for the next one in the series already she will need to have it and then get the CS to transcribe it as the box they mark off is the insufficent interval one, and I don't think they will mark it off if you are due for the next one in the series. You don't have to wait for the end ones though for sure, you just need to be up to date in time intervals at the time you get the CS to do the transcription.

For the varicella, if shes due for it now she probably should get it, if shes not due for it yet due to the time interval, get the transcription without it.

Yes, she will need to get it as the time interval for Varicella (chicken pox) Vacc is min 28 days after the first one. Only 2 shots of this per lifetime needed.

I want to thank everyone in this thread for their input, as I was stressing over all the logistics and details of getting just the I-693 completed in a timely manner.

What was so nice is that everyone just offered their first-hand experience and expertise, (and didnt just say, "Read the Guides") and this helped us greatly.

We hope to offer the same helpful info to others who have not yet traveled this road yet. :star:

I answered this I'm sure in another thread ....

You need to be up to date AT THE TIME of submitting the AOS paperwork. The CS is NOT ALLOWED to make you wait until ALL shots are complete, just that you're up to date AT THAT TIME.

See a CS, get them to complete a 693 vaccination thing for you TO DATE and problem solved.

Yes, V & T, you did, and now everything just crystallized and came into clear focus. Thanks so much for all your helpful input. I now know that she just needs this one shot to be up to date at time of transcription.

You previously posted the very helpful link to the I-693 instructions, and I printed those out and read it.

It's nice to be armed with factual info, as a defense against getting sold unneeded medical services :star:

Adult dTaP is one time deal and at 10 year intervals a dT booster is given. Time shortens to 5 years only for a serious wound that is heavily contaminated with soil (where tetanus lives)

She should just need her second varivax but I think you can go ahead and file then get the shot after she is on your insurance.

However, many health insurance policies don't cover adult immunization. Some just cover flu shots for adults. You should contact your insurance to find out if they are going to cover a varicella shot once she is on your insurance.

I'm glad you remembered 'cause I had a serious case of deja vu. I talk so much though it's hard remembering where and when :P

The HPV requirement didn't affect us, but I was sure that it had been rescinded. See the earlier poster's link.

The later poster's words about the TDaP echo my understanding. By itself, the regular tetanus booster (for adults) is recommended every 10 years if there's been no injury during that time.

Your county health department may be able to provide cheaper shots -- call first for information & hours. I did and was glad -- the lady said that the heath personnel were very suspicious of people showing up for immigration vaccinations, and to have a story ready. When we appeared, I said, "she needs tetanus and MMR," and the first question was "Is this for immigration purposes?" I said, "Eventually, it will be part of that, but we need them immediately because we'll be working with metal and..." That was all that it took to quell their suspicions. The administrative lady (who spoke Spanish) stamped the two new vaccinations on the bottom of my then-fiancee's vaccination record from Ecuador, and even wrote "chickenpox in 1985 -- no inoculation needed." This all made it very easy to eventually get the I-693 taken care of. Oh -- the shots were either $10 or $20 apiece, si man.
