So, all in all, we have a pretty good regional forum with our very own Freedom of Speech loving censor. The patriot that believes in rights as long as you agree with him on everything else. I suspect that VisaVeteran is really Chris Matthews

More like Glen Beck methinks. (I keep waiting for his tearful "I love America SO MUCH IT HURTS!!! rant--it's coming, I know it's coming) It's kinda scary how much we agree today. It'll pass, I know, but for now amen brother.

But I am the KING of the land of POO! No one is more patriotic than the King! Right?

Hey, this could be the Canada forum and our heads would all hit the table as we nod off reading...or the MENA forum which would give us all nightmares, the Latin American forums are pretty good, (and home of the funniest thread I ever read on VJ and HOLY ####### I have been here longer than VV) but they have some scarey consulates in that part of the world for no particular reason and that is just depressing...give me Ukraine or Russia any day. Plus, no offense as I have never been to that part of the world, but I cannot imagine they are more interesting than Ukraine or Russia. There is an awful lot of texture there.

How can this give you nightmares? This is the funniest thread of all time. Hands down. For those occasional old post readings, it is gold and definately not nightmare matierial.

None of my posts have ever been helpful. Be forewarned.

Kidding Julianna. When will you learn? Oh no, now the Canadians will come and tell us they aren't boring! Please stop. I was trying to make a humorous remark about VV, our own forum texture. You other forums were merely supporting actors. I'll read this thread, I love the ones that bring tears to my eyes from laughing.

The one I referred to was the one where the guy went to Colombia (I think, maybe Brazil) to find his "missing" fiancee and ended up in all kinds of affairs with her sister, cousins, friends, whatever and ended up with a different fiancee. And I think it is true, but it reads like a comedy script par excellence. He still posts here and he has now married the new fiancee. Ken & Leidys (spelling?) is his VJ name. What a hoot!

Except it will be "I love America so much (more than you) it hurts!"

Hey now! SuperKen never had affairs with his ex's relatives (that I recall). He did have loads of adventures, and finally did settle down with his interpreter, or the owner of an agency, or something. Point being he is happy. At one point he had lots of vjers believing he was a troll though.

Yeah! One more Tim Horton's story

I read it, Julianna. Definitely not as funny as Ken & Liedys and kinda scarey, only four pages and closed. the entire premise of the thread is scarey and there are too many of those in the MENA forum. Way too much religious BS for me. There has to be something else in life.

I was laughing so fuggin' hard, I don't remember all the details. And yes, I remember it had a happy ending. The best action was around page 44 as I recall, this was borderline pee-in-your-pants funny!

OMG Tim Hortons! Stop with Tim Hortons! It is Dunkin' Donuts with sandwiches for Chrissake, not the Holy Grail! the luch "trio" is a sandwich, drink...and donut! Maple glaze if you please!

Funny, no foolin' Tim Horton's story...The Canadians in Afghanistan needed their portable Tim Horton's but it wouldn't fit in the biggest cargo plane the RCAF had (maybe someone should have measured before they built it?) So they asked the USAF to deliver it to Afghanistan in a C-5. The Canadian Parliment then approved funds to buy a C-5 of their own so that particularly embarrassing combat mishap could NEVER happen again!

I am now 100% sure you cannot read any tone in my writing :)

Nah, once you get past the initial page and on to 7 it gets nice. You have lots of MO (Muslim Olympics) and great quotes by Moody, Jenn, and Madame Cleo. It reminds me of a VV kind of experience. I don't think I even post in there until page 7 or 8.

That Ken thread was blehhhhh. It started out great but then it lost all steam.

The truly best threads are invisible.

Wow, 4th time having to Fedex something for a tourist visa?

I didn't know they could be so complicated.

When people ask me how to get a tourist visa, I always tell them to go to the consulate if they can. Those agencies can charge ridiculous amounts.

Although I did have a funny experience trying to get one, the last time.

I downloaded the application of the web site and went to the consulate to turn it in. The lady behind the desk told me I had last year's form. I was like #######? where did I get this one.

Anyway, filled out the form then went home and checked the consulates web site. Turns out they still had last year's application.

I told my wife about the experience. She just laughed and said "Yeah, that's Russia".

it's the stupidity of the brazilian consulate in houston, coupled with a company i'm forced to do business with.

when i applied for a tourist visa from the houston consulate in 2006, it was fairly easy. send them the passport, about $150 and poof, i got a tourist visa within a week or two.

since then, things have changed and now you can't deal with the consulate via email, just in person, or through an approved agency...and this is how trouble starts.

we've been trying to get baby boy a tourist visa, did all the forms (sent to us by this agency), got him a us passport, sent all that in. oh you forgot a form - did that and sent that in. and then it became he can't get a tourist visa, he has to apply for a brazilian passport.

so did that paperwork and sent that in. then today it was oh we need another form, did that real quick and sent that in. nessa's contacted the consulate via email and was told to read the website. oh thanks for the help, consulate employees!

and we are scheduled to fly on the 26th :ranting:

So now we know how to neutralize Iran. Put the Canadian military down in Iraq, and a HUGE Tim Horton's sign in Afghanistan... then stand back and watch.

No. i'll tell you the secret: chicken and dumplings. Chicken and dumplings will bring them and the whole ME down through paralyzation. I discovered that secret 4 years ago.

I thought maybe a security leak that tells metro Atlanta that the IHOP located over the *ahem* secret nuclear facility outside Tehran is giving away breakfast to the first 10,000 in the door. Clear the sea lanes and gangway in Western Europe.

"Excuse me, pardon me, let me through please...on my way to Tim Horton's, eh" as they drive their tanks across Iran. Brilliant Brad!
