That reminds me! On February 9th I sent an email regarding a document I wondered if I needed for the interview (my wife's birth certificate). I never got a response...until YESTERDAY! The day after my interview! It was hilarious, because the email was just a generic one that told me that my interview was on March 5th etc. I thought, "Wow, great! I didn't know I had an interview yesterday!" :P

I sent an e-mail on Jan 17 and finally received a response on Friday. So about a 6-7 week wait!!!

ohh thats too long :(...I've been still waiting for one and sent mine on Feb 12,2010

No. I didn't need anything other than the documents on the checklist. Oh, and they took my I-864 too. It was the exact same documents listed in Sdhiman's review. It was kind of funny, actually, because I had all of those documents sorted, clipped and tagged together in one portion of my file folder, so as the clerk was asking for each one, I had it right there in front of me. So one by one, the stack got smaller and smaller until there was only the DS-230 left...so right as she was about to ask for it I said with a grin, "DS-230?" and she smiled and nodded. Not a single document beyond those were asked for. :thumbs:

But still...bring everything! It really can't hurt.

The email from NVC (the one that arrived on Saturday...the day after the interview) didn't even confirm or deny whether I should bring it. Of the three stages of the process, I think the NVC is the least helpful. You can sometimes get an agent on the phone who is clearly knowledgeable, but most are NOT...and the emails are rarely (if ever) helpful, and delayed by several days or weeks. That's why it's so important to have all your ducks in a row first -- you don't want to have to contact the NVC!

Wow, a 6-7 week response time? I remember about 14 months ago, when they had lost our packet 3, I was emailing them daily for nearly 2 weeks. I always received a response within 1 day, usually same day. Seems things have taken a turn for the worse.

both nvc and montreal were rediculously slow in givie me info on my case. in fact i still never got a reply from my december / january emails.

Wow. Back when I was dealing with Montreal (March-April of last year) the longest they would take to respond to an e-mail was 4 or 5 days. Normally they would send a response over within the same day! I wonder what's happening over there. Maybe they've decreased their level of services in e-mails in order to get passports out sooner, because that is definitely faster now.
