I received I-797C, NOA dated February 5, 2010. The "Receipt" field was blank. I thought there will be a number here, so you can check the status online. The other fields were filled in: Notice date (2/5/10); Case type (N-400); USCIS A# (Axxxxxx); Application Number (NBCxxxxx); Received date: 2/1/10; Priority date: 2/4/10.

I filed the package at Phoenix lockbox...The check has been cashed.... I have not received any biometrics appointment papers yet..

Does anyone have a Receipt number on their NOA?

Thank you!

The box where it says 'Receipt' is just the reason why they sent you the notice.

It is simply a receipt.

Your application number (NBC*XXXWHATEVER) is your case number, and that is what you are looking for.

You can type that in on the USCIS webiste and follow your case as well as sign up for alerts.

Just go here https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard.do

Be sure to include that * after the NBC part and before the number too - it is part of the number.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

  • 2 years later...

I got my I-797C notice of action with the application number NBC*XXXXXXXXX priority date aug 17. but I am unable to search the number on the website. Format = NBC*xxxxxxxxxx.

message:

  • Your case can not be found at this time in My Case Status. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283.

Question:

Is this the same number with receipt number? or do i have to wait with another mail with receipt number?

or... it's just too soon? I checked it online yesterday 8/24 same day when I got it from the mail.

please advice, thanks!

The thread you brought to the top is over 2 years old...

Lately people are reporting similar issues with NBC numbers. I have an NBC number but it shows up (filed 6/29).

You can call USCIS if you like but if you got a letter you're in the process.

Many people are also reporting that the online updates aren't current anyway. Online they're still in the queue for interview scheduling (for example) but some have received their letter, and/or had their interview, and/or oath and the online status still says they're waiting for an interview to be scheduled.

Does this apply to N600's as well. We applied for a COC via N600 application for our son in early June and received the receipt letter with a receipt number that is in the format of NBCxxxxxxxxxx with no asterisks. But it doesn't show up online when I check the status. Thoughts? Also, if I called the automated phone line then the automated info would be exactly same as online status check.....which says it can't be found. Right?
