Calling Cards

Can anyone give me a website service providing a good calling card that can be used to call the Philippines. I work abroad and have access to a phone that is tied directly to the U.S.A. I have a international cell service that I use while abroad but recently having troubles placing calls. Figured I would try the calling card route. Thanks!

If you have access to a US number like you say..check out rebtel.com. Basically it is a redialer. about 13 cents a min to a PI cellphone. You dial a "local" number in the US and it connects you in the PI. That is the best service I have found yet. Calling cards tend to accellerate the mins and charge connect fees.

06 Dec 2012 Received 10 yr green card. Letter said it was approved 28 November 2012.

You're welcome. I was using gorilla mobile before Rebtel. Gorilla mobile just stopped working one day. There are times every now and again with rebtel that my wife cant hear me when I first call, but I can hear her. For the most part it works without a hitch. I have been using Rebtel since they came out...i think they came out right about the same time gorilla mobile quit doing the service.

another good thing about them...they have detailed useage reporting, so you can print those out for interviews.

Yup, I like the call detail that you can print. Was a few times she had trouble hearing me but for the most part the call was good quality, Heck talking for over 18 minutes at around $2.48 was real good deal. Thanks again!

I just tried it out. Pretty nice. A couple of cents more than calling cards I get but save myself a lot of grief. Nothing but problems with calling cards.

Thanks

I also tried Rebtel but now I am using Smart Plug N Talk because the calls are much clearer. I bought mine at ebay. My family and friends can call and text me from their cellphone and will only be charge the P7.50-8.50 per minute for calls. I can also call them from their cellphone with the same charges.

yeah but with that you have to use an internet connection just like magicjack except it gives you a PI number right?? Either way it still isnt a bad deal..a little more than Rebtel for talking.

My wife gave me a roaming sim and she just txts me using that...only costs her a peso a txt.

I sent my fiancee a magicjack for when she's at home; I use G3Telecom and Owtel for when i need to get a hold of her on her cell phone (G3 has call history available online and Owtel sends me a monthly bill as this is a post paid service). Then I also have a roaming globe sim card so she can text me and I use a prepaid service from O2 wireless to text back for 5 cents a pop. -- I found that cheaper than having an international text messaging from AT&T as we text a lot.

Did you have to buy a dual band cell phone to use the roaming sim card, or perhaps you already had the cell phone? If so, the new cell phone is the major expense with that. I even went ahead and got a 3G quad band so the phone will work anywhere.

Mahal uses Chikka and Facebook to send "free" SMS.

I load her international roaming Smart SIM to keep it active, but for some reason the load gets consumed in about a week, even if she is not making texts from the phone. I can't tell if the roaming network provider takes a fee each day (AT&T).

Unable to check load balance from the phone. I wonder if it is possible to check the load balance from the Smart website?
