Hi All VJ friends and thanks for the advises and support for get me to this stage. My interview date is April 16th and im arranging all evidences my wife sent to me, preparing for my medical next week, and reading some questions on here.

I feel i will be okay but i just want someone to tell me if this might be a problem or not. I met my wife August 2007 online and since then we've been keeping in-touch everyday till she visited June 2009. and we did a court marriage July 4 2009. She filed the I-130 sometimes August.

I just wanna know if its matter on the number of time she visited which is just ones. She's from Honolulu and Im here in Nigeria, i was considering the cost, distance and someone as to stay to assist her mom.

How will the CO view this?

Any suggestion will be very helpful

Hello BNB,

I can only speak from my experience and from others I've spoken to. When you go in with a genuine relationship/marriage, you have to first be prepared that you come in and they will assume you are not genuine and they will look for a reason to be suspicious, that is by definition their job I suppose.

So yes, it is good to consider the view of the CO on these matters, so that you may be able to explain clearly your point of view and back it up with the evidence provided. It is difficult to say what your interviewer may ask you or what angle they may take, as you can see from reading here.

There are people who are simply not able to travel internationally that often but the CO does sometimes look at that negatively. You are not unlike others who have had their spouse visit once or twice. Because you already are questioning winnow the CO might view this, be prepared to answer questions about it. You also married one month after you first met, many do this - so many people do this, but again it's possible this will be viewed negatively.

I don't want to send you into panic, because these things you mention are valid I want to validate your concerns, but also give positive encouragement that this is the case with so many couples. You can only do your best, go in with all of your evidence, be organized, tell the truth and don't guess if you don't know the answer, and be prepared to be viewed as dishonest before you enter the room.

I am sorry I can't give any more helpful advice than that. You can't change the facts, your wife - the expenses of travel and the others you mentioned are valid reasons. All you can do is speak from your heart, emphasize the proof you do have - you have been together for 3 years and you would love to see your wife but you can't expect her to do more or give more than is possible. That's what I am hearing you from you in your post.

Wishing you all the best!

Be prepared for issues if

She is older

She is white

Only one visit especially if less than 3 weeks

No pictures with parents

Either has previous marriages/kids

Tell her not to get flustered over the interview. They try to get you off center and then they claim the relationship isn't valid.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

BnB,

Congratulations on your upcoming interview. Lagos Consulate is a tough tough consulate :angry::angry: . No joke!!!! I know this maybe a hassle for you, but Im advising you to please be there for the interview. Overwhelm the CO's with evidence of a bonafide relationship. And please pray. All the best and Good luck with the remainder of your visa journey.

And the visit was once like i said (with reasons of her parent situation)

But she had pictures with my ppl (My mom and family).

Never been married and no kids yet

On my appointment letter they want me to provide the recent tax return, is that how it is to everyone? did they request for it?

I just wanna be sure of things then prepare myself. my wife is planning to send the recent tax but i want to be sure why they ask.

thanks again and God bless

How much to send depends on how much over the poverty line she makes. If it is significant only Tax info . 3 years is the safest. If close then info on assets also.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

Well apparently i have two sponsors (my wife and her brother). My wife couldn't meet the poverty level that was given to their state Hawaii due to the fact that she has 2 dependants (Parents) already. Her brother doesn't have anyone making me the only dependant her has. The both are sending their recent Tax documents.

What do you think? Is that okay?

Having two sponsors is okay. Hawaii and Alaska poverty line is a little higher than the rest of the states. During the interview especially in Lagos make sure you are confident about everything you say to them and like other people have posted bring as much evidence as possible . even if you dont feel like it is that important bring it anyways especially if it relates to you both since you are already having a couple of things that could hinder you. Age they will ask you about. They will also question as to why it took so long for her to see you . Just make sure u are prepared for those questions. As far as her visiting you only once that was the same issue with me and my husband. He explained it well and it wasnt a big problem. He also had no pitcures with my family since none of them were able to come. But we had so many other pictures and evidence it was good enough. Needless to say my husband passed his and he is over here with me now.

Good luck on you interview !

Thanks Irr1998 your info is good and i've been preparing myself for those questions and i know they will definately ask. Our love is pure from the heart and i believe God will guide me on my interview day for that reason. And for other VJers preparing for interview or still filing, things will work-out for our own good no doubt.

Thanks all i cant wait for the day to come.
