When can I send in my application

So my fiancee and I are still discussing the different options for visa's at the moment. It looks like a fiancee visa may be the fastest but it is a lot more expensive.

I just recently started a job and now that I have income I think we are finally ready to get started. Here are my two questions:

I am currently living with a friend and though I am planning on moving out before she gets here. Is it possible to apply for a fiancee visa while I'm not in the place we will be living in the end or do I have to wait to get settled?

Though I have been over there (the U.K.) many times, thats how we met, She has never been to the US. Will this be a problem?

Thanks!

This is not a problem - perhaps not even that uncommon.

This (also) is not a problem - so long as you guys have met, in person, within the past 2 years (and you can show evidence of the meeting).

Best of luck to you guys...

Thank you so much for the answer. Originally we were thinking of going the CR-1 route but its just so painful to be so far apart for so long.

I don't have the document in front of me (and I can't for the life of me remember which one it is) but there is a question about the address we intend to live at. What should I put there?

I am looking at getting started this weekend so there will probably be a barrage of questions.

Oh one of them being, there was no real traditional engagement, we just decided that we wanted to get married. So no proof of proposals or anything like that. Is this a problem?

Before you begin the process - you should weigh both the Fiance and Spousal Visa paths for more than just the time spent apart - there are some benefits to pursuing one over the other. It may come down to what you guys have planned once entering the US (as far as working right away, the added costs of AOS etc.)

You could simply put the address you are at now - it's not like they will require you live there later - it's not a big deal later on if you don't live where you listed.

Nope - some consulates/embassies look at local customs in regards to this but the UK Embassy is not one of them.

The other reason why we're thinking the fiancee visa is because it would mean I wouldn't have to take any time off any time soon from the new job (always a good thing).

I guess my main concern on the address portion of things is that i will probably be moving within the next few months which would most likely be during the visa process and I'm not sure if it creates more hassle to move while in the middle of it all . Though this does bring up an interesting question about the CR-1. Is it possible to apply from the non-permanent address?

Again thank you for being patient with my questions.

You can still apply using your current address though temporary it might be. There is a form to be sent to USCIS the moment you become aware of the address change and are actually able to accept mail at that address.

In case the link above does not work, go to www.uscis.gov. Click on forms. Scroll down to the first form (I think) and click on AR-11. That will give you instructions on how to notify USCIS if you change your address. I also believe there are instructions on the I-129F regarding notifying USCIS if you move during the processing of your petition.

Good luck

A lot more expensive than what?

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
