NO ENTIENDO!!!!

Ok.... Once our petition arrives at the Embassy in Colombia we will need to complete "THE INSTRUCTION PACKAGE FOR K VISA APPLICANTS"....ok all fine and dandy.

After this we will be scheduled for the interview and my fiance will need to complete the "THE K-VISA APPOINTMENT PACKAGE" correct?

Well the package provided at this link:

http://bogota.usembassy.gov/root/pdfs/consular/2010/kappointmentpackagefeb2010.pdf

Says:

VISA FEE INFORMATION

Prior to the date of your K visa appointment at the Embassy, you must pay the nonrefundable visa application fee. The fee is the equivalent of US$350 in Colombian pesos. This fee must be paid in cash. To pay the fee, go personally to any authorized Banco Helm office. See http://bogota.usembassy.gov/scabco.html for a list of locations and hours of operation. Make sure to take your two completed DS-156 Forms (Nonimmigrant Visa Applications)

My understanding is that the fee is probably going to go up but as of yet on the NVC site it has not. As of today 3/6/2010 The NVC says: Nonimmigrant visa application processing fee, Form DS-156 (non-refundable): $131.00

Am I missing something?

One is called an "application fee" and the other an "application processing fee". Are these two seperate fees? Is the embassy just jumping the gun? Is the $219 for them to say "yup... It's a DS-156 all right" and the $131 for them to process it? #######?

Can somebody out there please help me understand?

Thanks in advace

Thanks for the guess.....

That is why I queried whether they had jumped the gun.

It had occured to me that this is possibly the case.....

I'm actually hoping someone who has been through there might have some factual knowledge about it having recently been through there or something.

It's un unsual for the embassy to change their fees prior to the Department of state making the change whehter it be in anticipation or not.

I do appreciate the input though.... Thanks

that's correct, to get the date of interview must first send the package 3 and start to prepare the pck 4 (documents to bring to the interview)

My understanding is that the fee is probably going to go up but as of yet on the NVC site it has not. As of today 3/6/2010 The NVC says: Nonimmigrant visa application processing fee, Form DS-156 (non-refundable): $131.00

I paid the visa yesterday (US$131) and asked at the bank, still do not know when it will increase the fee

until you don´t have the interview date you can't pay the visa, because the bank requires it (the embassy send a letter specifying the BGTxxx case and the date for the interview). I suggest that as soon as possible send the package 3, it may be scheduled before the increase

We can all make a difference. Please recycle

Awesome, so it is the embassy jumping the gun. Great news! Heck that's the cost of my airfare so it'll help if we can make it in time.

Thanks for the info!

Oh and hey! Good Luck Monday! I bet you guys are excited!

Congratz on making it this far and enjoy the future.

Oh and if you're looking for a great steak and like here at home. Go to Taurus resturant around the corner from the Hard Rock Cafe..... Great Place! Romantic, Argentinian Beef etc. Check it out.

Thanks again!

Is it saying that you have to pay before you get the interview date? Or do you get the interview date and then go pay? I have already paid the $400 visa fee here in the states to the NVC. This is so complicated and i think they do this on purpose to get people discourage to try to quit...jaja

From looking at it again, as you mentioned it says non-immagrant visa, are you working on that or a CR-1?

The OP is K1 and your are CR1. It's apples and hot dogs. You've paid the immigrant visa fee already so forgetaboutit.

I also heard today from someone who paid $131 at Bank Helm in Bogotá a couple of days ago. For now the visa fee for K visas is still $131 and not $350 as their appointment package indicates.
