Well, we just arrived in Louisville about 6:00pm this evening. Had a blast. If you get the chance, visit Dai Nam in HCMC. Took my wife's younger sisters on their first roller coaster ride along with their father. I have never heard my father-in-law laugh so much.

Found some property we are going to buy in Rach Gia for retirement. All-in-all, a great trip. TET was cool but the traffic that night SUCKED.

I went to Dai Nam about a year ago. I heard it's kind of controversial with the local people. Apparently, a lot of people got pushed off their land when they built the place, and now it doesn't attract enough tourists to even pay for the staff that works there. There probably weren't more than a few hundred people there when we went there. I actually liked that aspect of it. The place is awesome to see, and we felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. The park is really big, but there are gas powered trams that will take you from one part of the park to another. The "Yummy Food Court" is actually a row of themed restaurants - very cool!

They weren't running the rides that day, so we went to the zoo. One of Phuong's cousins told me about a week ago that the tigers in the zoo escaped not long ago, and apparently some people were killed. I don't know if that's true.

Jerome,

I been to Hue. There is nothing to do there except visiting some old palaces. Just a head up.

Stay at the Huong Giang hotel on Le Loi street. The service is world class, the breakfast buffet is great, and there's nothing like having breakfast while watching the boats on the Perfume river.

Take a walk down Le Loi street, and through the park next to the Perfume river. There's a nice "kem" shop on the banks of the river, next to the Truong Tien bridge. It's popular after dark on hot nights.

Take a dragon boat ride on the Perfume river. Heck, rent a whole boat for a day, bring food, beer, and about a dozen friends!

The "old palaces" are the tombs of the Nguyen dynasty emperors. I wouldn't spend more than one day on that, but you shouldn't miss it either.

Spend 1/2 day at the Citadel. There's a room where you can dress up in Nguyen dynasty style clothing, get a little makeup, and get your pictures taken. It's worth it to pay the professional photographer to take your pics. He'll make some great photoshopped posters (he'll add an entire room of people for your royal "court"), laminate them in plastic, and deliver them to your hotel room.

Stay away from the Thien Mu pagoda. The locals believe it's bad luck for a romantic couple to go there - the relationship is doomed to fall apart. There are plenty of other awesome temples to see in Hue.

Have a hamburger at "The DMZ" bar and restaurant, along with just about every other tourist in town. Don't forget to leave your autograph on the wall.

Spend a day on the beach in Thuan An village. It's less "touristy" than Hoi An, and the merchants on the beach will treat you like a god.

It is true about the tiger, they were two white tigers I have photos of when we went there, the park was great, the trains really helped, and the Zoo there was 100 times better than the one in HCMC, you can actually touch the giraffes though which I thought was a bit dangerous, and they would also allow you to pet one of the tigers with a trainer, you had to pay a bit, I thought it was great and have photos of it. We did not ride the rides, but we did have a great time, and I finially ate real Chinese food instead of the American version, it was just like Binh said a bit on the oily side, but good. Jerome
