I met hundred of Filipinos in United States specifically California, Nevada, and Filipinas on internet I chatted with. Sometimes, I'm wondering how my other fellow Filipinos think or feel or handle about people who say you're lucky to have him once they found out about your status. I personally didn't dream of marrying an American, but a Briton man. Yes, I did date someone from London for four years. I broke up with him due to his perfectionist problem. For example: he told me how to sit, how to hold glass, spoon, teaspoon, don't burp like a cow, and so on! Of course, I appreciated he taught me how to be formal included how should I live my life. However, I get pretty little suspicious with women telling me HOW LUCKY I AM TO HAVE MY HUSBAND BECUASE HE BROUGHT ME IN UNITED STATES. Honestly, I become skeptical about women from my own country that some of them may not looking for genuine relationship, but take advantage of foreigner men looking for good Filipinas-we are known as good mother and wife.

Here is my questions:

1.) Do you believed in choosing partner that you have to be wise or just go with I may be lucky with him?

or

2.) What do you think of Filipina women that just looking for men on internet hoping to get lucky?

3.)Do you ever think it will affect our next generations if we get more bad Filipinos in US? If yes, are you willing to help the immigration someday to prevent this case?

OK...well...hmmmmm...

I have never heard a cow burp and now, you have made me very curious as to what that might sound like. I am going to start googling "cow burp" as soon as I am done responding to your post. I am now afraid I won't be able to sleep until I hear a cow burp! But...well...I for 1, would hope that someone would tell me to stop burping like a cow if indeed I was. I would be very grateful!

Are you recruiting? Is there a paycheck involved? A job title or at least a name badge or desktop nameplate? That would be very official looking and coooool! But, what exactly would the job require? Preventing cases of bad Filipinos in the immigration from affecting our next generations? Wow! I bet that would have a very fancy job title and prestige! Do I need send a resume? I'm really intrigued!

Wow...cow burping and bad Filipino immigration prevention!...I'm a fluster!

Here in Hawaii, the norm is Filipinos marry Filipinos. Also most of them come through their parents, or other family. Then these single kids may marry other single kids here in the Filipino community here. It is rare to see a Filipino woman with a Haole husband, mostly Filipino couples here. Of course the Filipinos I met here don't seem to mind that I have a Filipino wife. But that is because I am local born. It seems that most Filipinas on the internet are marrying mostly Haoles on the mainland. For me I don't care who they marry coz I am half Haole myself. I guess they are the good and the bad, and it is like a roll of dice.

OK...

I am still googling but want to update my progress.

I am shocked and have to say, I did not know that a cow could burp. I now know they indeed do! Those nasty methane burping cows! In fact, Argentina apparently blames 30% of their total greenhouse emissions on cow burps!

Well....I would absolutely not want to burp like a cow! I would feel very guilty about contributing to global warming! I think you owe your Brit a great big THANK YOU! Afterall, he was just being green!

As soon as I can find an actual video of a cow burping I will hastily report back. This is a very serious matter of global concern! We should all want to not, repeat, NOT burp like a cow!

I am sure there would be 1000 different opinions on your posted questions. For me, I found out that when you fall deep in love with someone, wisedom and common sense are sometimes ignored as one becomes blinded by love..in that case you would need some good luck. lol

A woman or man that uses the internet to con the next poor sucker into a less than honest relationship, in which they figure they can get ahead in life, indeed is a pretty rotten individual...and most likely will have a less than realistic success rate of hitting the "big time" with their mr./mrs. kano goodbar...the old addage "cheaters never win" often time prevails.

It seems immigration already makes it pretty clear what rules and regs. they expect from immigrants. Being allowed to immigrate to a new country after all is a priveledge, not a right. Don't really know what makes up a "bad filipino" but the more negative incidents brought to light to immigration may make even tougher requirements for future filipinos, or any other nationality for that matter.

2 widely believed myths, which get much more fan fare than they are worth are: that in America, all is the land of milk and honey and life is a total easy thing here.. the other being that every filipina is a sweet, loving devoted woman more beautiful than any other.. but some still think the moon is made out of cheese.

My Filipino husband just happens to be a USC, it was not a factor in my decision to be with him and eventually marry him. If he weren't a USC, I'd still marry the same guy. I'm lucky to have him??? Nyek. Maybe he's lucky to have me :P Our wedding expenses were split 50-50. Hardly asked for anything from him and his family for our wedding. Everything that concerned me and all my whims related to the wedding I or my family paid for. LOL. I'm the dream bride for any groom in terms of that. LOL. Kidding aside, I guess we're lucky to have each other no one is luckier than the other.

C'mon. As if you're not used to Filipino culture. Prying, inappropriate remarks come so naturally to some of us, so the comment that you're very lucky to have a husband who brought you here. Sometimes I wait for the day some idyota comes up to me and suggests that I married my husband to escape the Philippines...Hahahha. If they only knew. I left Manila in tears. Setting aside that our future children will be raised in a better, more diverse environment here, I'd go home in a heartbeat with him. :P

I will be honest and say I believe a good chunk of Filipinas participate on those dating sites (not Facebook, Friendster, Myspace, etc) to get lucky. I'm sorry if I'm offending those who just joined because they were in search for true love...But c'mon, I'm sure you know a few who joined to leave the Philippines :innocent:

1.) Do you believe in choosing partner that you have to be wise or just go with I may be lucky with him? - - In choosing your partner, you have to balance your heart and your head. That's making a sound decision. Deciding with just the heart: Puppy love.

2.) What do you think of Filipina women that just looking for men on internet hoping to get lucky? - I'm not 100% behind these women, but it's really none of my business what these people choose to do with their lives. It demeans the reputation of other Filipinas like myself and the others who really fell in love with men who just happened to be USC's but at the end of the day - - it's none of my fecken business until she goes to a public forum and announces, "I married n Kano and I am now free!" LOL. Once she does that, I'm compelled to tell her to shut up because she is giving reason for other people to demean Filipinas =D

3.)Do you ever think it will affect our next generations if we get more bad Filipinos in US? If yes, are you willing to help the immigration someday to prevent this case? - - Who says there are no bad Filipinos in the US now? No, I won't help CIS to prevent cases like this. I'm not an opportunist, thank you very much. It's not my problem. It's not my business.

I understand that I get different comments. If they can stick with my topic, it's easier to say something. I know, it's blood boiling. But, some readers may misunderstood. Anyway, I'm asking an opinion, not an argument. I implied about bad women that spoiled good Filipinas. Furthermore, nothing wrong marrying someone else other than your kind, it's our freedom of choice. I'm full Filipino blooded, married to a pure Caucasian. Some of my Fil-Am friends would say to me that I'm lucky with him because... On the other hand, my Filipino couple friends never tell me "you're lucky" with him that know us both. They did inquire how my husband treat me. I told them that there is nothing to worry about me.

I asked the no.3 question because someone came up to my face with an insult. I don't think, we can prevent good artists. :P

Btw, I'm really curious why some Filipinas would tell me YOU'RE LUCKY! I haven't use these words. I think, we are both lucky, we found each other. I'm sure, I'd go home if my husband join me.

You will have to consider, those who don't know any better think U.S is the Land of Milk and Honey and face it, the way we got/we will get our legal status' must be the "easiest" route. Imagine, resident card after less than a year? People work their ####*s off in H1b status and get their resident cars YEARS later. Yeah, so in a way, consider yourself lucky in that aspect. People would sell themselves to have our luck.

Thank you for the precaution. Marami akong kilala dito sa amin. Mababait naman ang iba. Yong iba naman mahirap abutin dahil nga hindi ako mayaman.

Life is not a granting factory, according to my colleague.

I got it. I apologize. Sometimes I am surprised by innocence.

There is good and bad everywhere in this world. I think they say you are lucky because they desire a better life for themselves and believe America automatically provides it. I also believe there are those that marry only for the "lucky" and you are right to be cautious and skeptical.

Stay strong in your Filipino heritage and family values. Don't let the "bad" Filipinos be a negative influence on you. You are right that the (mabait) Pinay is considered to be a treasure because of the "good wife/mom" values.

I dunno - I hear some noise about 'remittances' for 'emergencies', and sometimes, it solidifies what I learned about 10 years ago.

Othertimes, I think - yup - that's the way it is, why complain?
