Actually the mini cooper surcharged is a fun car. US muscle cars are for a _{cough cough} certain type of male. Hence the almost zero popularity abroad.

I drove an Elantra rental car in 1996. Trying to get into Yosemite National Park from the East, which peaks over 10,000 ft above sea level, was painful. Never liked them since.

That's an illusion. The 911 Turbo - which is to be had for less than half the ceiling you put out there smokes the Z06 without breaking a sweat.

Corvette (Z06 - 505-hp 7.0 Liter LS7 V8 @ $77,230.)

Why didn't they test-run the ZR-1 (638-hp 6.2 Liter LS9 supercharged V8 @ $106,880)?

The Porsche is still much more expensive but it would have been a fairer comparison.
