I think I need the bottle at this point. ;)

Fine, I give up. You win the DCF forum today! :D I'll be delivering your medal COD at the end of the month. :star:

You only "win" when you get to the point where you don't have to deal with USCIS, DOS, DHS, COs and IOs any more.

I won that battle and I'm only trying to help others do the same from what I've learned {hard way at times] going thru the "fooking" process.

So you went through DCF in London? That's how you know all about it?

I rocked up with three years of tax returns that were photocopies of the originals I filed at the London IRS office. At my visit to the London IRS office to file them, these copies were stamped as received by the IRS (I had not filed taxes for 12 years, so I backfiled as instructed by the IRS for only the previous three years) and I was specifically told by the IRS officers that these stamped copies were more than sufficient for use with the I-864. Indeed, I was told that it would take too much time for the returns to arrive in the Texas filing office to have a transcript available in time for my interview.

I would like to see a link that says that transcripts are somehow "more valid" than copies of a tax return for the purposes of filing an I-864, especially when filing DCF.

And in response to the request for a link about what London says about tax returns, you need look no further than here: FAQ I-864 Tax Returns

In particular, I would point you to these questions and answers:

You refer to a number of forms on the I-864; which form do you require?

We require photocopies of your Federal Tax return, form 1040,1040A or 1040EZ. If you filed your tax return electronically you should furnish the form 1722.

I do not have copies of my tax returns; can I submit an electronic summary of the returns that I provided to the IRS?

Yes

Perhaps my reading comprehension has been affected by all that beer and wine drinking, but it appears that London has expressed a preference for photocopies of the 1040, but that transcripts are just as fine.
