Liberals look at illegals and see hard working people, noble people, yearning to live out of the shadows and with the dignity every human being deserves.

Conservatives look at illegals and see the uneducated and uncouth brown hordes trying to take over the land they love, trying to transform it into a mediocre imitation of the hellholes they left behind.

Obama, on the other hand, sees them as nothing more than an untapped source of revenue for big government.

In an effort to advance a bill through Congress before midterm elections, the president met with two senators who have spent months trying to craft legislation.

...

In the session, Obama and members of his Domestic Policy Council outlined ways to resuscitate the effort in a White House meeting with two senators -- Democrat Charles E. Schumer of New York and Republican Lindsey Graham of South Carolina -- who have spent months trying to craft a bill.

...

The basis of a bill would include a path toward citizenship for the 10.8 million people living in the U.S. illegally. Citizenship would not be granted lightly, the White House said. Undocumented workers would need to register, pay taxes and pay a penalty for violating the law. Failure to comply might result in deportation.

In other words, pay up or leave, bitсh. This is how they roll in the south side.

I would like to see the immigration policy relaxed so that any professional or skilled worker can similarly come here and setup shop and compete with local labor.

I'm willing to bet that within three years, these same libs will be having Seattle style anti-globalization protests.

That isn't the worst idea BY has ever come up with.

It's definitely about time those who blindly want to open the borders in the blue collar market have the same occur in their industry.

Actually, we have an example of this from the good old UK. This open border policy has done wonders for salaries and quality of life in that country.

Obama looks at illegal immigrants and sees a revenue stream

Of course. Remittances back to Mexico:

MEXICO CITY -- The Bank of Mexico said Tuesday that remittances to Mexico fell 36% to $1.69 billion in October from $2.64 billion in the same month last year.

The October numbers were also lower than the $1.74 billion that Mexican workers sent home in September, the central bank said.

Remittances for the first 10 months of the year fell 16% from the year-earlier period, to $18.13 billion.

Remittances in dollar terms have slumped this year due to a recession in the U.S., which caused rising unemployment among migrant workers who send money home to their families.

After peaking in 2007 at $26.07 billion, remittances fell 3.6% last year to $25.14 billion.
