There is no banking requirement to show cents. I cash checks every month made out simply: "Four hundred dollars" with a line after the word dollars. No doubt thousands of similar checks are processed every day in the US. It may be a USCIS requiement but I can't imagine why. Truly mind boggling.

Edit:

I see that as Bobby+Umit noted it is a USCIS requirement to show cents: USCIS link

If that rule is true, they applied it only to you.

I just checked the check I sent and it says:

TOP: 1010.00

BOTTON: One thousand ten dollars ------------ (I wrote the dollars word before the one on the check)

My check was ACCEPTED. Interview will be very soon.

You received the entire package back in the mail?

Not just an RFE?

I ask because after reading your post I realize that the check I sent off with my husband's aos package this morning was done as 'one thousand and ten dollars' with a line going to the right to the 'dollars' printed on the check.

Put a definite dent into my happiness for the day.

I wrote mine like that too & they accepted it. I think it depends on the analness of the person who accepts the package.

Oh ok, On thousand ten dollars__________ When there are no cents, I just mark a line

Also please help me verify the mailing address ofr Georgia residents. I wanted to check that as well. Thanks

Well it could be a typo now but did you write ONE or ON as your post above says?

Did you double check that you dated it correctly (for instance as an aussie i would write date/month/year but it will need to be month/date/year) and also the link that was provided says you need to write the month so 20 May 2010 not 5/20/10

Did your write neatly so it was easily readable? We call it printing but writing in capital letters?

As stated you need to send to the chicago address.

Was there enough money in the account where the cheque was taking money from?

Just some ideas. It's a good reminder for people filing before a deadline (like ROC) that we don't know what crazy things USCIS will do so give them LOTS of time just in case.

Good luck!
