Come on now, bigotry is rampant among VJ, especially off topic. Check any of the political threads.

As I said, I don't agree with Danno's stance on this at all. But I do defend his right to voice it. While most times, I get annoyed by how ridiculous some of these threads may be, I think it's better to 'have it out' so to speak, to offer a differing POV, rather than just silence it because it's not PC. Now if he was saying 'down with the gays' or completely inflammatory remarks like that, I would be the first person to hit the report button. (And in all my years here, I've only done that once, I think.)

I would rather point out Danno's (and others) flaws in logic re: this discussion, than to have a mod close it.

And again, as far as Charles, yeah he's a friend, but what I'm saying has nothing to do with that. In this forum, he's just another member, so I don't think he should be held to some higher standard here.

I don't know if you are deliberately not getting the point, or you are missing it. Danno can post as many individual topics as he likes on whatever he likes, and I don't have a problem with it, nor his POV in terms of whether he should be allowed to voice these opinions.

What I have a huge problem with is that a thread can be labeled a pink folder for and about homosexuals - as a loose description to cover whatever story Danno considers may have some 'gay' interest. That gives a very undesirable impression to anyone who might casually wander into VJ OT.

Pink is the color the very group identifies its self with, take that beef up with them.

I thought I had pointed out in the beginning this was an open folder, with topic to include "for or about" inside it.

If you have some Gay rights updates, feel free to post them.

And to show how open I am to all things,,, I also invited news stories about Homophobes too.

I think there is a lot of interesting stories on the topic, some funny some serious some informative, and I thought one collective place for them made sense. I actually might do a few folders in this same style.

Perhaps one on gun stories, one on Public schools you know .....my usual stuff.

Ffs Danno, it's not about the colour, it's that anyone would feel it necessary to designate a section of an OT immigration website for 'gay issues', particularly when none of the regular posters are gay, and these so called 'gay issues' are nothing of the sort. WE DO NOT NEED A SPECIAL PLACE TO DISCUSS STORIES THAT HAVE THE WORD 'GAY' IN THEM. It has nothing to do with being pc, or crying or getting upset and everything to do with allowing VJ to be a place where nobody feels that they are being picked on simply because of their sexual orientation. Enough already.

This is a marriage-based community. Given that gays can't marry under federal law, anti-gay threads are entirely within scope of this site.

No, it's not. There are all kinds of immigration visas catered for here besides marriage based ones. Even if it were simply about marriage, there are arguably gay children from these marriages who have every right to immigrate. Bigotry is also against the TOS. Either the TOS have a meaning or they do not. If they do not, then the mods should quit chastising me and everyone else for name calling which while mindless and irritating is not as serious as racism and bigotry.

Homosexuals have no right to have their marriages recognized under Federal law. Put another way, they are second-class citizens by law. Therefore, dissing them isn't bigotry.
