Hey Everyone,

I am a VJ newbie who is in need of some help! I am getting ready for my medical in TO on April 5th and am a bit confused about immunizations, specifically Dr. Seiden's website immunization requirements.

Since I have no immunization records, I am planing on getting my MMR and Tdap next week at the travel clinic. But what worries me is the timing. Do I have to have the Tdap within 4 weeks of the medical? I may be reading too much in to this, but as we all know, the closer you get to the end, the more the little details freak you out! Thanks for your comments in advance!

Combination Vaccine for:

* Tetanus Diphtheria (Td)

* Tetanus Diphtheria Pertussis

An initial series of three immunizations, which are normally received in childhood at ages 2, 4 and 6 months and a booster immunization within the last 10 years must be documented.

or

If you have no proof of a primary series you must begin an adult series of TWO doses of Td 4 to 8 weeks apart with a third dose 6 to 12 months after the second. You must be as up-to-date as possible with your series at the time of your immigration medical.

or

You must have proof of a Td booster within the 4 weeks prior to your immigration medical.

or

An antibody titers blood test showing proof of immunity to tetanus and diphtheria.

I did not have any medical records of my vaccinations in Canada,too. What I did was I got a Td shot at a clinic and I asked a written note from the doctor's secretary that I had it--that includes the date of the shot, name of the shot and the doc's signature.

I had the antibody titers blood test,too. I got the lab result 5 days after I had the test.

Good luck!

i was missing some updated vaccines in my book when i had my medical. dr. seiden just said i needed the boosters ones and i'd be fine. went to the clinic wheni got home had them done, faxed a copy to dr. seiden and he signed off on my medical and fedex'd to me. dont worry if you dont have em at the medical, you can do em after and just fax to his attn the results of what you needed done.

My husband went through the Vancouver clinic this week. He got his MMR, Hep A, and Td (NOT Adacel) in AB on Monday, did the medical in BC on Thursday. They didn't give him any grief at all. He didn't actually need the Hep A (I think) but our family doc here made sure he had everything just in case. We tried to find the adacel but couldn't, and AB public health gave him the Td so there wasn't much else to be done. I was super worried about that but as I said he had no problems.

I had no immunization records, so the doctor in London Ontario just gave me all my boosters (I knew I had not had any since school) and all was good. He then gave me a paper showing that I was up to date on my immunizations for future.
