I downloaded an audiobook version of Moby ####### for my iPod, but it won't show up. I have it in the same directory on my computer as my podcasts and another audiobook (Music/My Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Podcasts), but it won't transfer when I sync my iPod and doesn't show up in the iTunes program either. Any suggestions?

Download doubletwist is an awesome program. It will help you to find it and to remove stuff from your ipod as well.

Good luck!

I had that issue with ringtones once. Try opening the folder that it's in, and opening iTunes as well. Then click and hold on the book you want to add, and drag it over to and drop it into iTunes. It should add that way (I do it this way with songs too).

**fingers crossed** for you!

Actually, I found the "import" feature in iTunes  and was able to load the audiobook and a song I was also having trouble with into iTunes, and then into my iPod. But the audiobook ended up in the music folder instead of podcasts with my other audiobook, and now I can't find a way to move it within iTunes. And is there a simple way I'm missing to create an actual audiobooks folder in iTunes, which would be a more logical location for audiobooks than the podcasts folder?

Okay, one reason might be it's not an "m4B" which iTunes recognises as Audiobooks and is instead an mp3 which it "sees" as music.

For that reason, use this guide to convert from Mp3 to m4b(only look at the auto part 'cause the other will be confusing): http://www.geektonic.com/2007/06/convert-s...-into-ipod.html

This is a random audionbook guides I found about bookmarking your place: http://www.apple.com/support/ilife/tutoria...unes/it5-2.html

Here's a random guide: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/...pod-audiobooks/ that talks about audiobooks from start to finish.

I don't know if that helps. If you want to just create a "playlist" for audiobooks and not bother with the stuff above, click on "file" then "new playlist folder". Label the folder "audiobooks" and now you have a folder. To move or books to the folder, you find it in your main list and drag to the playlist. Then you need to make sure that you're syncing playlists which you'd do when your iPod is connected to your computer and there should be a tab for music and just make sure you've selected playlists to be synced as well.

Personally I'd convert the file to m4b 'cause the program is free and there's no messing around then :P You'd need to remove the current audiobook from iTunes first. When it says delete make sure you don't delete the file altogether. Perhaps go into the folder first and make sure you've "backed it up" somewhere first.

Follow up - more problems...

I found the Media Kind option in iTunes, and changed the Moby ####### files to "audiobook". Then the audiobooks folder appeared in iTunes, and Moby ####### moved there. When I synced my iPod, the audiobooks folder (with the Moby ####### files inside) appeared in iTunes under both Library and Devices/Scott's iPod. However, no audiobooks folder will display on my iPod itself. I tried converting a chapter to an ACC file with iTunes and syncing again, but still no audiobook folder on my iPod, in spite of it showing under my iPod in iTunes. I changed the media kind on that chapter back to music, and it then appeared under music on my iPod. I'm at my wit's end here; Google searches fail me...why is this so complicated? Is there no simple, logical way to make the audiobook folder actually display on the iPod?

Did you download it from a program other than iTunes?

Just go to your iTunes, and click on the File menu at the top, tell it to add a file to your library - when the search box comes up, locate the file and click okay - then try re-syncing your iPod.

No iPod here either...

I've never seriously thought of having one because for one, I get tired of hearing the same bloody songs over again...and having earphones inside my ear would bother me after awhile. Also, unless I'm completely by myself, I'd be having to turn the volume down or pull the earphones out every time someone wants to talk to me. Podcasts are a cool idea though.
