I was going to post some light hearted stuff in this thread, but having read it all through, I've lost my train of thought. In all honesty I think its turned a little nasty.

My husband doesn't have what people think is a stereotypical Canadian accent. Basically, he doesn't say "eh". So when I tell people he is from Canada, they comment on that and look all surprised.

Also, most people assume he speaks French (and that everyone in Canada speaks French). Some of that is probably because we happen to live in Northern New Hampshire right now, about an hour and a half from Quebec province.

My husband is from British Columbia and it seems like I always have to do a mini-geography lecture when telling people. They also assume it is warmer living here for him and he is somehow lucky he moved here so he is out of the cold. Hello, he lived in Vancouver where it was MUCH warmer and much LESS snow than here in the boonies of Northern New Hampshire.

Wow you have pretty strong opinions about a country you probably haven't spent much time in,am I right? How long has it been? Have you done any traveling within the US since you've been here? I am not saying you cant say what you want about this great country, hell you can say just about anything you want but I have to say that it pretty narrow minded to have such strong opinions about something you know little about and with such a narrow point of view unfortunately I dont see your opinion ever changing.

what always gets me is that Americans get ####### about being bad with geography but what I have learned from my travels is if you dont live in California, New York or Florida they dont have a clue. Every country has there fair share of stupid people, often people will compare Sweden to the US which in my mind is a horrible comparison considering Sweden's population is somewhat close to the state of Oregon(just above California ;) )
