Hello dear VJers,

Hope things are working out for all.Just some general information regarding DMV.

Yesterday, I took my wife to get her State ID. The lady asked her about I-94. She didin't know that I-94 form is not required for spouse visa. I tried to explain to her that it's only for non-immigrants and that my wife came on a spouse visa and they don't reqire I-94. But she won't get it and told me that she needs I-94 to get her State ID. I was so pissed.:angry::angry: Then finally, she went to her supervisor. No answer there, so she went to her manager I think and then she came back and told me that I was right. It's so bad that they don't get educated about thier job properly.

In conclusion, I-94 is only for non-immigrants. If you are a CR-1 or IR-1 or DCF, you don't need I-94.

So, if you go to apply for Driver's License or State ID, or something else, and they ask you for I-94, tell them it's not needed for immigrants.

Thought I would share some experience. Maybe it's helpful.

Correct me if there are mistakes. Thank you.

There really aren't a lot of spouse visas issued each year (75,000 +/-). So the chances of a particular DMV service person seeing one is fairly rare. They probably do need a good reference guide to help with "our" rare occurences.

It stinks for us who are involved, but for most of the folks in the US it's all an unknown area of life.

Glad that you got it straightened out.
